🌏 World Environment Day reminds us that protecting the planet starts close to home. This winter, you can take practical action for the environment right here in Canterbury/Waitaha by volunteering at one of our community planting days. Planting native species helps restore river margins, improves water quality, and supports local biodiversity.

Takapō Regional Park – Night shooting notice (Tuesday 26 May)

Contractors will be carrying out a night shoot at Takapō Regional Park on Tuesday 26 May.

For everyone’s safety:

⚠️ Please do not access the park at night (no nighttime walks or rides please).
⚠️ Follow all signage and instructions on site.

These night operations help manage pest species and protect the park’s natural environment.

A short section (around 350m) of the West Melton Forest horse track at Weedons Ross Road will be temporarily detoured while we install a fence for a new native planting area.

The detour is expected to be in place from late next week (21 or 22 May) for about one week.

📢 Baynons Brake – Track Closure 📢

Gravel extraction will resume from the 28th April at Baynons Brake. This means the area shown in red will be closed until further notice. Please follow all signage, it’s there to keep everyone safe.

The good news is the section above the car park remains fully open and ready for you to enjoy.

We know closures aren’t ideal for everyone. We’re doing our best to keep as much of Baynons Brake open as we safely can, while this important work continues behind the scenes.

Keeping everyone safe and making sure the work runs smoothly is our top priority.

Thanks for sticking with us and for your patience 🙏
