𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆𝐍𝐀𝐍: 𝐈𝐧𝐟𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐑𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐬𝐚 𝐇𝐮𝐥𝐲𝐨 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 𝐁𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐚 𝟔.𝟐 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭

Bumagal ang headline inflation sa 6.2 percent nitong Hulyo 2026 kumpara sa 6.4 percent noong Hunyo. Nakatulong dito ang bahagyang pagbagal ng pagtaas ng presyo sa sektor ng transportasyon at pagbuti ng suplay ng mga bilihin, ayon sa Department of Economy, Planning, and Development (DEPDev).

Ilan sa mga hakbang ng pamahalaan upang mapanatili ang pagbagal ng inflation ay ang mga sumusunod:

1) Ipagpatuloy ang mga targeted assistance programs sa transport sector;

2) Palakasin ang domestic food supply chains;

3) Pangalagaan ang suplay ng pagkain laban sa mga panganib na dulot ng klima; at

4) Isulong ang mga reporma sa power sector alinsunod sa Philippine Energy Plan 2023–2050.

𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆𝐍𝐀𝐍: Patuloy na bumagal ang inflation rate, o ang bilis ng pagtaas ng pangkalahatang presyo ng mga bilihin at serbisyo, sa 6.2 percent nitong Hulyo 2026 mula sa 6.4 percent noong Hunyo. Pangunahing dulot ito ng bahagyang pagbagal ng pagtaas ng presyo sa sektor ng transportasyon at pagbuti ng suplay ng mga bilihin.

Batay sa ulat ng Consumer Price Index (CPI) report na inilabas ng Philippine Statistics Authority ngayong araw (Agosto 5), ang average inflation rate mula Enero hanggang Hulyo ay nasa 5.0 percent.

Ang pagbagal ng inflation ay pangunahing dulot ng paghupa ng inflation sa transportasyon, na bumaba sa 11.9 percent nitong Hulyo mula sa 12.8 percent noong Hunyo, kasunod ng pagbaba ng presyo ng gasolina at pagbuti ng kondisyon ng suplay.

Nanatili naman ang food inflation sa 5.3 percent. Ito ay dahil sa mas mababang presyo ng karne at mas mabagal na pagtaas ng presyo ng gulay na nakatulong sa pagbalanse ng mas mabilis na pagtaas ng presyo ng bigas.

“Bawat pisong natitipid dahil sa mas mabagal na pagtaas ng mga presyo ay nagbibigay ng mas malaking puwang sa badyet ng bawat pamilya para sa pagkain, transportasyon, edukasyon, at iba pang mahahalagang pangangailangan,” sinabi ni DEPDev Secretary Arsenio M. Balisacan.

Malugod na nakikiisa ang Department of Economy, Planning, and Development (DEPDev) sa pagdiriwang ng Buwan ng Wikang Pambansa ngayong Agosto, na may temang "Wikang Filipino at AI: Kasangkapan sa Pananaliksik at Tulay sa Yaman ng Impormasyon."

Para sa pagdiriwang ngayong taon, binibigyan ng pagpapahalaga ang tungkulin ng wikang Filipino sa panahon ng Artificial Intelligence (AI), lalo na sa pagpapalawak ng pananaliksik, paglikha ng kaalaman, at pagpapalaganap ng impormasyon.

Alinsunod sa Proklamasyon Blg. 1041 na nilagdaan ni dating Pangulong Fidel V. Ramos noong 1997, taunang idinaraos tuwing Agosto ang Buwan ng Wikang Pambansa. Bilang pakikiisa sa pagdiriwang, ilalathala ng DEPDev sa wikang Filipino ang mga social media posts nito sa buong buwan.

TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The Department of Economy, Planning, and Development–Cordillera Administrative Region (DEPDev-CAR) and the Social Preparation of CAR into an Autonomous Region (SPCAR) Program of the Regional Development Council (RDC-CAR) strengthened the integration of development planning and regional autonomy through their presentations in the 2026 Regional Planners' Training, organized by the League of Local Planning and Development Coordinators of the Philippines, Inc. (LLPDCPI)–CAR Chapter, on July 28, 2026. EnP Flordeliza Moldero, President of the Regional League and Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator (PPDC) of the province of Kalinga, in her welcome message highlighted the critical role of planners in crafting development plans that are the bases of investment programs and the efficient implementation of projects for inclusive development.

Mr. Jose H. Dado, Jr., Chief Economic Development Specialist of the Policy Formulation and Planning Division (PFPD) of DEPDev-CAR, discussed the key planning frameworks guiding local development planning. His presentation covered the mandates of DEPDev and development planning, as well as the ​current Philippine planning system ​and recommendations to harmonize national and local development planning. He also discussed the RDC budget review and endorsement process, along with the RDC guidelines for the endorsement of projects.

In the session on regional autonomy and development, Mr. Dado also provided participants with an overview of the Cordillera autonomy journey, tracing its historical milestones, the vision of self-governance for the region, and the salient provisions of House Bill No. 6981, which seeks to establish the Cordillera Autonomous Region.

Following the introduction of regional autonomy, Ms. Nichole Justine Jacildone of the SPCAR Program, presented the findings of the fiscal viability study on the establishment of the Cordillera Autonomous Region. She delved into the study's key findings on the proposed autonomous region's fiscal capacity, projected revenue sources, expenditure requirements, and long-term financial sustainability. The study likewise demonstrated that the proposed autonomous region possesses the financial potential to effectively exercise devolved powers and responsibilities under an autonomous government.

The sessions culminated in an open forum where LGU planners engaged the speakers on key issues surrounding local planning and autonomy mechanics, including the possible status of provinces that would not vote in favor of autonomy during the plebiscite, and the presence of anti-dynasty safeguards within the proposed legislation.

LA TRINIDAD, BENGUET – Demonstrating economic resilience despite severe weather conditions, market pressures, governance challenges, and global uncertainties throughout 2025, the Cordillera region celebrated its continued growth during the culminating program of the 39th Cordillera Month Celebration on July 31, 2026, at the Benguet Sports Complex, La Trinidad, Benguet. Delivering the 2026 State of the Region Address (SORA), RDC-CAR Chairperson and Apayao Governor Elias C. Bulut, Jr. urged the Cordillerans to look beyond traditional economic metrics like Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth and focus on community-centered progress.

“I call on all Cordillerans to remain relentless in our goal to build a Cordillera where progress is not only measured in billions of pesos but in terms of safe and nutritious meals on the table, children learning skills and cultural values in school, productive farmers earning fairly, competitive and creative enterprises growing through innovation, empowered citizens actively participating in governance, and resilient communities standing strong after every storm and crisis,” Governor Bulut emphasized.

He also underscored that regional autonomy remains the vital engine for achieving self-determined development, greater cultural sensitivity, and accountable governance tailored to the unique needs of the region.

Following Governor Bulut’s address, chairpersons and co-chairpersons of the RDC-CAR sectoral committees presented unified reports, each highlighting regional autonomy as the key mechanism in achieving sectoral development goals for the region. DTI-CAR Regional Director Atty. Raymond G. Panhon delivered the sectoral address for Economic Development; DA-CAR Regional Executive Director Atty. Jennilyn M. Dawayan for Agriculture; DSWD-CAR OIC- Regional Director Enrique H. Gascon, Jr. for Social Development; Private Sector Representative (PSR) Arline B. Santiago for Indigenous Peoples’ Concerns; DENR-CAR Regional Executive Director Engr. Paquito T. Moreno, Jr. for Watershed and Environmental Management; DPWH-CAR Engr. Editha Babaran for Infrastructure Development; and PSR Clarence C. Baguilat for Development Administration.

Another highlight of the event was the signing of the Manifesto of Support for House Bill 6981, led by local chief executives (LCEs) of the six provinces and the City of Baguio. Assistant Secretary for Cordillera Antonio R. Tabora Jr., also expressed strong backing for autonomy, pledging to actively lobby the current administration for the swift passage of the law.

The month-long festivities concluded with the ceremonial turn-over of the hosting of the 40th Cordillera Month to the Province of Ifugao and the Watershed and Environmental Management sectoral committee, represented by Ifugao Governor Jerry U. Dalipog and RED Paquito T. Moreno, Jr. The successful conduct of this year’s commemoration was spearheaded by Benguet Governor Melchor D. Diclas and Economic Development Committee Chair Atty. Raymond G. Panhon and Co-Chair Mr. Reinaldo A. Bautista, Jr. of Jaime V. Ongpin Foundation, Inc.
