Gibraltar Elementary School conducted its School-Based Feeding Program (SBFP) Orientation on September 16, 2026, at 10:00 in the morning, as part of the school's continuing efforts to promote the health, well-being, and learning readiness of its learners.
The orientation was spearheaded by School Head Gemma N. Lomboy, PhD, who emphasized the importance of a well-organized and responsive feeding program in supporting learners' nutritional needs and creating a healthy and motivating learning environment.
The logistics, implementation procedures, and school processes were further discussed by SBFP Coordinator Patricia Veronica B. Torres, AO II. The discussion provided important guidance on the proper coordination, preparation, distribution, documentation, and monitoring of the feeding activities to ensure that the program is implemented systematically and responsibly.
The School-Based Feeding Program (SBFP) is a Department of Education program that provides nutritious meals or food to identified learner beneficiaries in public schools. It aims to help improve the nutritional condition of learners and support their ability to attend, participate, and learn effectively in school.
The program also helps address hunger and undernutrition among school children. When learners are hungry or inadequately nourished, they may experience difficulty concentrating, participating actively in classroom activities, and attending school regularly. Through appropriate nutritional support, the SBFP contributes to creating conditions that enable learners to engage more fully in their education.
For Gibraltar Elementary School, the final list of SBFP beneficiaries for SY 2026โ2027 shall be based on the school's validated nutritional assessment and the applicable DepEd criteria. For the current implementation, the program will serve 122 identified learner beneficiaries, covering all Kindergarten learners, all Grade 1 learners, and selected learners from Grades 2โ6.
The orientation likewise underscored the importance of cooperation among the school head, SBFP coordinator, teachers, parents, and other stakeholders. Their shared responsibility is essential in ensuring that the program reaches the intended beneficiaries and that the feeding activities are conducted with proper care, accountability, and efficiency.
More than simply providing food, the SBFP represents the school's commitment to nurturing healthy learners and supporting their capacity to learn. Gibraltar Elementary School continues to uphold the principle that addressing learners' basic nutritional needs is an important part of building a safe, caring, responsive, and learning-focused school community.

The lunch food packs are given to the parents after the orientation marked as Day 1 of the 200 days for this school year.
