The Philippine Statistics Authority – Benguet Provincial Statistical Office successfully conducted the Provincial Level Training on Project 1MAP: Updating of Boundaries and Enumeration Area Delineation and Merging Activities on 21–24 September 2026 at the PSA-Benguet Conference Room, Malipat Building, Happy Homes, City of Baguio.

The four-day training gathered Map Data Verifiers, Map Data Processors, Map Data Reviewer, and PSA staff from both the Provincial and Central Offices. Sessions were guided by resource speakers—including ISA II Kent Emman de Leon and ISA I Jasper Patawe from the PSA Central Office – Geospatial Management Division, together with personnel from PSA-Benguet. The program combined lectures, workshops, and field practice to equip participants with essential skills in boundary updating, EA delineation, and merging activities.

One of the highlights of the training was the initial presentation of geopacked shapefiles to LGU-Sablan, showcasing the practical application of updated procedures and underscoring the importance of close coordination with local government units in boundary updating.

This initiative marks a significant step in preparing PSA Benguet for the 2027 Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS). By ensuring updated and standardized maps aligned with LGU-recognized boundaries, the training strengthens the agency’s commitment to delivering accurate, reliable, and efficient statistical operations in support of evidence-based local governance.

Baguio City- PSA Benguet conducted the Training of Respondents for the 2026 Quarterly Survey of Philippine Business and Industry (QSPBI) on 18 September 2026.

The activity provided respondents with guidance on accomplishing the QSPBI questionnaires, using the various types of questionnaires and the QSPBI-Online Facility, and addressing issues and concerns in the submission process.

The highlight of the activity was the recognition of the Best-Performing Sample Establishments, honoring five establishments for their exemplary cooperation and commitment to the QSPBI:

- Jollibee – Baguio Magsaysay
- Porta Vaga Mall
- EDNCP Lyman Ogilby Centrum
- Triple One Service Station
- D’ Rising Sun Transport System Inc.

The awardees were selected based on Timeliness of Submission, Data Quality, and Data Consistency. They were also given an opportunity to share their experiences and best practices in accomplishing and submitting the QSPBI, offering practical insights and encouragement to fellow respondents.

𝘽𝙚𝙣𝙜𝙪𝙚𝙩 𝙄𝙣𝙛𝙡𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙐𝙥𝙙𝙖𝙩𝙚: 𝙃𝙚𝙧𝙚’𝙨 𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙔𝙤𝙪 𝙉𝙚𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙆𝙣𝙤𝙬!

Baguio City- The inflation rate for all income, and for the bottom 30 percent income households in Baguio City decelerated to both 5.8 percent in August 2026. The slower inflation rates were primarily driven by the lower annual increases in the indices of Food and non-alcoholic beverages, and Housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels.

Meanwhile, the inflation rate for all income households in Benguet remained at 4.6 percent. The main contributor to the inflation were Food and non-alcoholic beverages, and Housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels.

On the otherhand, the inflation rate for the bottom 30 percent income households in Benguet decelerated to 5.3 percent, mainly driven by Food and non-alcoholic beverages, and Housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels as well.

The Philippine Statistics Authority – Benguet Provincial Statistical Office spearheaded the Provincial Level Training on Advancing CBMS Statistics through Statistical Standards and Classifications: Capacity Building on the Statistical Survey Review and Clearance System (SSRCS) and the Philippine Standard Industrial Classification (PSIC) conducted from 15 to 17 September 2026 at Paragon Hotel and Suites, Otek Street, Rizal Monument Area, City of Baguio.

The activity gathered participants from the Provincial, City, and Municipal Local Government Units of Benguet and the City of Baguio, along with representatives from DTI-Benguet and City of Baguio, DICT-CAR, and BIR-Benguet. Resource speakers included Mr. Rassel Jhun Embile and Mr. Hareth Ael V. Chicote from PSA Central Office, Ms. Maria Theresa B. Bagsangi from PSA RSSO-CAR-SOCD, and Ms. Nalyn C. Esican and Ms. Shiella Mae Barcena-Patayan from PSA RSSO-CAR-Benguet.

The training specifically aimed to explain the importance of quality local data in evidence-based planning, policymaking, and program implementation; describe the role of CBMS in generating disaggregated data for local development planning and monitoring; recognize the importance of statistical standards and classifications in producing accurate, reliable, consistent, and comparable local statistics; understand the role of the SSRCS in supporting the quality and coordination of LGU statistical activities; and appreciate the role of LGUs and their coordination with PSA in promoting the production and use of quality local statistics.

Through this initiative, PSA-Benguet reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening statistical capacity, ensuring data quality, and fostering collaboration with local government units and partner agencies in support of effective CBMS and statistical standards in the province and city.
