TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF KENNON ROAD
Date: August 3, 2026

⚠️ ATTENTION MOTORISTS AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC

Due to the continuous heavy rainfall affecting the area, Kennon Road is hereby temporarily CLOSED to NON-RESIDENTS until further notice.

Persistent rainy weather may result in slope failures, rockfalls, and landslides, making travel along Kennon Road hazardous. This temporary closure is being implemented to ensure the safety of all road users while clearing operations and safety assessments are being conducted.

Motorists are advised to:
🔸️Use alternative routes such as Marcos Highway or Asin-Nangalisan-San Pascual-La Union Boundary Road, subject to prevailing road conditions.
🔸️Follow the instructions of traffic enforcers and emergency personnel.
🔸️Monitor official advisories from the Department of Public Works and Highways-Cordillera Administrative Region (DPWH-CAR) and local authorities for updates on road conditions and reopening.

Your patience and cooperation are greatly appreciated as we prioritize the safety of the traveling public.

𝙎𝙩𝙚𝙥 𝙗𝙖𝙘𝙠 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙞𝙢𝙚 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙁𝙧𝙖𝙜𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙈𝙚𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙮: 𝙄𝙢𝙖𝙜𝙚𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝘽𝙖𝙜𝙪𝙞𝙤 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝘽𝙚𝙣𝙜𝙪𝙚𝙩 (1890–1909), a remarkable photo exhibition that takes visitors on a journey into the early years of Baguio and Benguet.

Featuring rare and historic photographs, the exhibit offers a fascinating glimpse into the landscapes, communities, and stories that shaped the Cordilleras during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Each image serves as a window into the region's rich cultural heritage and enduring legacy.

The exhibition is made possible through research conducted by the Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Cordillera Administrative Region (OPA-CAR), under the Office of the President, with the assistance of the Department of Special Collections, Stanford University Libraries.

One of the highlights of the opening program was the keynote presentation by Mr. Eric De Guia more popularly known as "Kidlat Tahimik", Rather than delivering a conventional speech from the podium, the National Artist for Film enthralled the audience with an engaging performance of storytelling - sharing reflections on history, memory, identity, and culture that brought the photographs to life and left a lasting impression on everyone in attendance.

The Fragments of Memory photo exhibit is open to the public from August 3 to August 30, 2026, at the Baguio Museum. Everyone is invited to experience this unique collection and rediscover the history that helped shape Baguio and Benguet.

The opening was graced by Presidential Assistant for CAR - Assistant Secretary Antonio Tabora Jr. together with representatives from various government agencies, cultural institutions, and partner organizations, including the Department of Tourism – Cordillera Administrative Region (DOT-CAR), led by Regional Director Jovita A. Ganongan, in support of this meaningful celebration of the region's shared history and cultural heritage.

Notice is hereby issued that the Indigenous Community of Patay, Demang, and Dagdag (PADEDA) will conduct a traditional ritual on August 3, 2026, in response to the current unidentified swine disease affecting the community.

In connection with this ritual, "Sedey" is hereby declared. During this period, everyone is required to comply with the following customary regulations:

- No going to the rice field
- no making loud noises
- Everyone is also advised to minimize unnecessary movement.

These regulations apply to all community members and visitors.

Any violation of these customary regulations shall be subject to the appropriate traditional penalty, "otik-ugo," depending on the nature and gravity of the act(s) committed.
