Grateful to Tonga Independent News for this thoughtful and detailed feature on what we've been building at Tonga Post Ltd. 🙏

Our National Home Addressing System is live. 48,220 addresses assigned across all six island groups, from Tongatapu to the remote northern islands of Niuatoputapu and Niuafo'ou.

This isn't just about postal delivery. It's foundational infrastructure for emergency services, e-commerce, banking access, digital government, disaster management, and more. Vacant allotments are addressed before homes are even built, so communities are future ready from the ground up.

We've submitted our National Home Addressing Methodology to the Universal Postal Union (UPU) as a potential model for Small Island Developing States across the Pacific. UPU endorsement would accelerate regional adoption, but whether or not it comes, the system continues.

There's still work ahead, but 48,220 addresses don't appear through committee meetings. They're the result of choosing to build rather than wait.

Thank you to Tuífua Vailena and the team at Tonga Independent News for taking the time to understand and share the vision. 🇹🇴

A milestone for Tonga Post Ltd and, I believe, for the Pacific.

Today we formally submitted the TongaPOST National Home Addressing Methodology to the Universal Postal Union (UPU) International Bureau, requesting review and endorsement as a replicable model for Small Island Developing States.

For most of us in the Pacific, a formal street address has never been a given. Deliveries rely on landmark descriptions, local knowledge, and PO boxes. That works until it doesn't. Until you need an ambulance dispatched, a utility bill sent, or an e-commerce package delivered.

What we have built is a systematic, GIS based framework that assigns permanent postal addresses to every building and every vacant land allotment across the Kingdom of Tonga. The key innovation i.e. vacant lots receive their address before construction begins, so when a home is eventually built, no renumbering is ever required.

Every address is registered on chain via the Pasifika Data Chain, creating an immutable and publicly verifiable national address register.

The platform is fully integrated with our ERP system and accessible through our official website at https://tongapost.org, serving as a one stop shop for postal services, address lookup, parcel tracking, and business solutions.

This is not just a postal project. It is foundational infrastructure for emergency response, e-government, utility billing, disaster risk management, and economic inclusion.

We are asking the UPU to endorse it as a model other Pacific nations and SIDS globally can replicate.

Malo 'aupito to the teams at Tonga Post, Pasifika Web3 Tech Hub, and everyone who has contributed to making this real.

TongaPost ERP Milestone

🇹🇴 A first for Pacific postal operators.

Today we flipped the switch on the TongaPost ERP i.e. a complete business management system for Tonga Post Ltd, now running live on the Pasifika Data Chain.

Eleven integrated modules i.e. Accounting, POS, HR, Payroll, Inventory, Billing, Property, External Audit, UPU, ASYCUDA, Dashboard, sharing one data layer, one source of truth.

And the breakthrough: we've just deployed our PayrollRunAnchor smart contract to the Pasifika Data Chain (block 9,627,702).

What this means, in plain terms:

* Every fortnightly payroll run is cryptographically sealed on-chain - totals, staff count, period, record hash
* Auditors can independently verify any payroll claim years later, without trusting our servers
* Zero gas fees - the Pasifika Data Chain is purpose-built for Pacific government and public-sector workloads
* Hybrid architecture - cloud primary + local mirror, so the system survives power outages and connectivity disruptions
* Privacy-preserving - aggregate totals anchored on-chain, personal payslip data stays off-chain

Why this matters for governance: the Board, auditors, Ministry of Finance, and the public can prove "not just trust" that the numbers reported today will be the same numbers tomorrow. Tamper evident by design.

Contract address (public, read-only verification welcome): 0x4F466b8d1d4aF60c3D4043E013Ae1427aE2370fe

Next up: AI Agent layer, live UPU POST*NET integration, ASYCUDA customs bridge, and end-to-end parcel traceability through the TongaPOST DePIN GIS home-addressing system - all anchored on the same shared chain.

Huge thanks to the ICT Board of Directors, the leadership team, and everyone who backed a "build it right once" approach over a "make it look like it works" approach.

This is what Pacific built, Pacific owned digital infrastructure looks like.

📢UPU Conference on Postal Regulation

In a changing socio-economic environment shaped by new technologies and the entry of new players in the postal markets, revisiting how we define the postal sector is key to ensuring effective regulation and continued relevance.

Postal regulation today sits at the intersection of rapid change and new opportunity, as digitalization and evolving user needs reshape the sector. At this critical moment, this forum by the UPU provides a timely space to exchange innovative approaches and rethink how postal services are defined and regulated for the future.

Great pleasure to jointly witness the launch of the commemorative postal stamps marking the 80th anniversary of the victory of the World Anti-Fascist War by Tonga Post. 📩📩

The stamps are more than miniature art—they are silent narrators of our shared history, and powerful reminder of the immense courage and sacrifice of all those who were involved in the resistance war against Fascism. For China, they are even more significant, because this year also marks the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the restoration of Taiwan.

Let us carry forward the valuable legacy of Anti-Fascist War, sharing both its glory and lessons with younger generations. ✊✊The peace we cherish today was forged through unity and resilience. By launching the stamps, we not only remember the past but also renew our commitment to a more just and peaceful world. ☀️☀️

Lest we forget.
