For the past few weeks, our summer camp students have been visiting Sugar Plum Farm Saratoga for an enriching hands-on program. There, they’ve been developing real-world entrepreneurial skills while interacting with local business owners and farm animals!
On Tuesday, they put all their new knowledge to the ultimate test in a Lemonade War. Each team created a secret recipe, designed eye-catching posters, and pitched their products to make sales!

Roots Academy is excited to launch a community improvement project focused on enhancing our playground and outdoor spaces for students.
As we celebrate Juneteenth and honor the values of freedom, resilience, and community, we invite families, community partners, and volunteers to join us for two opportunities to make a difference:

🧹 Community Service Day

Help us clean up the playground and surrounding grounds as we prepare for our upcoming park makeover project.

🎨 Playground Beautification Day

Volunteers are needed to help paint playground games and stencils that will create fun, engaging spaces for our students to enjoy.

Today, historian Anthony Cohen and the Freedom Walkers team visited Roots Elementary School with the "Journey to Freedom" Harriet Tubman statue. Speaking to students, Cohen shared insights from Freedom Walk 2026, a monumental journey he is currently leading from May 4 through July 4 that retraces the historic Underground Railroad route from Maryland to Canada.
