Regional Planner Cody Arana is on the Empire State Trail this week with Parks & Trails New York for Cycle the Hudson Valley!

While passing through Ulster County, the group stopped to highlight a recent economic impact study and a report detailing how New York voters view parks and greenways as essential infrastructure. Did you know the Empire State Trail welcomes 398,180 visitors and generates $74 Million in economic output annually in Ulster County?

On Sunday, August 23, join the Maurice D. Hinchey Hudson River Valley National Heritage Area and Thomas Cole National Historic Site on a 2.5-mile guided hike to the Hudson River Skywalk. After taking in the views that inspired Hudson River School artists, guests will return to Thomas Cole for an art making activity and historic house tour.

Following the Hudson River Valley 250 & Beyond activities, guests are encouraged to stay for Thomas Cole’s Summer Festival, which will feature National Heritage Area partners, local merchants, and vendors.

Congratulations to Hudson Taconic Lands!

Executive Director Andy Kitzmann and Regional Planner Cody Arana were proud to join project partners for the ribbon cutting of a pedestrian foot bridge connecting the John B. Staalesen Preserve to trails in the City of Troy.

Last week, the Maurice D. Hinchey Hudson River Valley National Heritage Area hosted its first Hudson River Valley 250 & Beyond event of the year – Traveling the Loyalist Trail – at Boscobel House and Gardens. Thank you to Jennifer Carlquist, the Hudson River Valley Institute, Philipse Manor Hall State Historic Site, Putnam Historian, and Revolutionary Westchester 250 for making this event such a success!
