For decades, NYAMA has been a strong voice for aviation in Albany. During the 2003 Advocacy Day, members met with lawmakers to highlight the importance of investing in New York's airports, expanding air service, and supporting statewide aviation training programs.

These conversations helped reinforce a simple message: when aviation thrives, New York's communities, businesses, and economy thrive.

A new effort is underway to attract additional airline service to New York Stewart International Airport. The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is assembling a public-private partnership aimed at expanding air service opportunities and strengthening connectivity at Stewart Airport.

Improved airline access can help support economic growth, increase travel options, and further enhance the role airports play in serving New York communities.

In 2012, New York State officially proclaimed May as Aviation Appreciation Month, recognizing the vital role aviation plays in the state's economy, transportation network, and communities. The proclamation highlighted New York's more than 400 airports and heliports and the industry's significant contribution to jobs and economic growth across the Empire State.
