The Allentown Police Department would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the Hatfield Police Department and Chief William J. Tierney for recognizing Officer Ryan Sloan with a Commendation for Excellence in Policing.

Officer Sloan was recognized for his assistance in a violent assault investigation that occurred in Hatfield, where the suspect was residing in Allentown. Through prompt communication, attention to detail, and professional investigative work, Officer Sloan assisted Hatfield investigators in locating and documenting critical evidence that helped move the investigation forward and ultimately contributed to the suspect being taken into custody.

This recognition is a great example of the importance of partnership and collaboration between law enforcement agencies. When departments work together, share information, and support one another, the collective efforts of our officers and investigators can make a significant difference in bringing offenders to justice.

We thank Chief Tierney, the Hatfield Police Department, and everyone involved in this investigation for their professionalism and continued partnership. Congratulations to Officer Sloan on this well-deserved recognition!

🚔 TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT DETAIL YESTERDAY MORNING - Be Aware we are out and about trying to keep our roads safe!

Our officers started the day with school zone enforcement in front of Roosevelt Elementary, working to help keep students, families, and school staff safe. During the detail, officers issued 3 speeding citations in the school zone and made 1 school bus violation stop.

The detail then continued in the 700 block of Susquehanna Street, in collaboration with Salisbury Township, as we have been throughout the year.

Final Numbers:
• 29 traffic stops
• 26 citations
• 24 speeding citations
• 3 speeding citations in the school zone
• 1 school bus violation
• 1 unregistered vehicle

These joint traffic enforcement efforts are ongoing and will continue throughout the year.

Slow down. Pay attention. Follow the rules of the road.

A few extra seconds can make all the difference — slow down in our city. It could save a life.

🐾 CONGRATULATIONS K9 ROMKE & OFFICER CARBAUGH! 🐾

The Allentown Police Department proudly congratulates K9 Romke and his handler, Officer Carbaugh, on receiving an Appreciation Award from the U.S. Postal Inspection Service in recognition of their outstanding efforts and dedication over the past year.

Through their work with the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and our other law enforcement partners, K9 Romke and Officer Carbaugh were instrumental in investigations resulting in the seizure of approximately:

• 30 pounds of co***ne
• 15 pounds of methamphetamine
• 6 pounds of fentanyl
• $12,500 in U.S. currency

These numbers represent more than successful investigations. They represent lives potentially saved and dangerous drugs prevented from reaching our communities.

This work also demonstrates the critical importance of partnerships between law enforcement agencies. Criminal organizations continue to attempt to exploit legitimate shipping channels to transport illegal drugs, and through collaboration, intelligence sharing, investigative work, and specialized resources, our law enforcement partners are working together to identify those responsible and hold them accountable.

We thank the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, including Team Lead Postal Inspector Jeff Gerdes, the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office, and all of the Postal Inspectors, analysts, and Allentown Police personnel involved in these investigations.

Pictured are U.S. Postal Inspector Team Lead Jeff Gerdes, representatives of the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office, APD Chief Charles Roca, Assistant Chief Gress, Patrol Captain Brubaker, Postal Inspectors, and Analysts.

Congratulations to K9 Romke and Officer Carbaugh on this well-deserved recognition, and thank you for your continued commitment to protecting our community and saving lives through outstanding police work and partnerships.
