Today our officers traded in donuts for cardio as they joined law enforcement agencies from across Iowa for the Special Olympics Torch Run into Ames! We were lucky to be joined by and athlete named Brandon Bayer. He put in about 4 miles and put in an impressive pace.

Nothing brings people together quite like running down the highway in tactical boots while questioning every life decision that led to this moment.

The Law Enforcement Torch Run helps raise awareness and support for Special Olympics Iowa and the incredible athletes who inspire us every day with their determination, positivity, and heart. We’re honored to help carry the Flame of Hope into town!

Also, if you saw officers “sprinting,” please understand some definitions of sprinting may vary by age and lower back condition.

Good luck to all the athletes this week!
