There are a few spots left for tomorrow's grief walk.

What to Expect:
- The weather is due to be overcast in the mid 50's. Please dress comfortably.
- We’ll begin with a gentle welcome and grounding moment to help everyone arrive and settle. The walk will be slow and spacious, with optional reflection prompts along the way.
- You’re welcome to walk in silence or conversation—whatever feels most supportive.
- We’ll incorporate simple somatic practices, including mindful walking inspired by animal imagery, to help connect the body and emotions.
- We’ll close with a brief circle to integrate the experience.

You can move at your own pace, take breaks, or simply observe. Everything is optional, and all emotions are welcome.

Caregiver support bags are now available to help lighten the load for those who give so much. Each bag is filled with comfort items, practical resources, and a reminder that caregivers deserve care, too. If you or someone you know is supporting a loved one, these bags are a small way to bring a bit of ease and encouragement into the day.

It is truly meaningful to hear of the lasting impact we've been able to provide. We step through doors where illness, death, and loss is present, and as such can carry days of heaviness but knowing we've provided help is why we do this work.

Thank you Chugach Alaska Corporation and Melissa for this nomination. We are grateful to receive this donation and for the recognition of our team’s commitment to our community.

Chugach’s 12 Months of Giving program is driven by employees who step forward to nominate nonprofit organizations making a meaningful difference in their communities. Each month, one employee-nominated organization is selected to receive a $1,000 donation from Chugach Alaska Corporation.

Thanks to a nomination from Melissa Hermes, Hospice of Anchorage has been selected as a recipient of the program. Established in 1980, Hospice of Anchorage is a non-profit, volunteer hospice dedicated to walking alongside individuals and families to prepare for and live well with terminal diagnosis, dying, and grief.

“The care team at Anchorage Hospice provided excellent care to my father when he was ill,” shared Melissa Hermes, Corporate Tax Executive for Chugach Alaska Corporation. “They managed his pain and anxiety as well as that of all of our family members. Their care allowed him to pass at home surrounded by his family.”

The heart of the 12 Months of Giving program ensures Chugach’s philanthropy supports causes that matter most to those who work for Chugach and our subsidiaries. Quyana to our employees for helping extend Chugach’s impact beyond the workplace and into the communities we serve.

We invite our followers to visit www.hospiceofanchorage.org to discover more about the impactful work of this organization and consider joining Chugach in making a donation.

It can be difficult to know what to say when someone is grieving but we know the most meaningful guidance often comes from people who've lived it. We're here to ask our community to help us create an affirmation card deck to support those navigating loss. If you feel called to share, we welcome your reflections — what words, phrases, or affirmations helped you feel supported in your own grief?

Your insight may support someone else feel a little less alone.
Please share your thoughts in the comments.

Grief doesn’t only begin after a loss — it can show up long before, especially when you’re caring for a loved one whose health is declining. We understand how overwhelming and isolating that experience can feel.

Whether you’re navigating the emotional weight of caregiving or preparing for the loss of someone you love, you’re welcome here. Regular attendance is encouraged but never required. Come whenever you need a moment to breathe, connect, and feel supported.
