The city’s data on short-term rentals – like those available on sites like Airbnb and Vrbo – comes after the Anchorage Assembly passed an ordinance in December requiring that they be registered. '

According to Visit Anchorage, more than 14,500 passengers went through security at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport on Aug. 1, making it the busiest day ever recorded at the airport....

“Last year, about $55 million went directly to our city treasury from tourism,” Saupe said.

Visit Anchorage says that money came from hotel and vehicle rental taxes and expects the amount to grow this year.

📊 Do you feel confident? The Anchorage Consumer Confidence Report has just dropped.

📢 What's new this quarter: Consumer confidence ticked up slightly from Q1's 40.2 to 40.5, and residents' ratings of current conditions in both Anchorage and Alaska improved modestly.

🔎 Future Expectations, the piece of the index that captures where people think things are headed, fell to 31.9, its second-lowest reading in 10 years of tracking, trailing only the pandemic shock of March 2020.

Happy National Aviation Week from AEDC! ✈️ Since 1939, America has celebrated aviation and the history of flight. In celebration of Orville Wright's birthday, Aug 19th, President Franklin D. Roosevelt proclaimed it 'National Aviation Day." The US also celebrates our flight history August 19th through August 25th for National Aviation Week!

Rich in aviation history, and the most pilots per capita in the US, Alaska stands at the crossroads of the world for our brethren birdman!
