The STAR office will be closed on Friday, June 19, as we take time to celebrate Juneteenth. This is a special day for reflection, solidarity, and honoring our community's resilience and freedom.

Even though our office will be closed, our 24/7 crisis line will still be up and running. So if you or someone you care about needs support, please donโ€™t hesitate to reach out. Our caring Crisis Line Responders are here for you, day or night.

Crisis Line: (907) 276-7273

We encourage everyone to take time on this important day to celebrate Juneteenth. Whether itโ€™s attending a local event, supporting Black-owned businesses, diving into some inspiring books about Black history, or chatting about racial justice, every little action helps!

Take care and enjoy the day!

As of May 19, 2026, the Take It Down Act is in effect, providing stronger protections for survivors of image-based abuse.

This federal law criminalizes the nonconsensual sharing of intimate images, including AI-generated content and deepfakes, and requires online platforms to remove such images within 48 hours of a request.

The National Network to End Domestic Violence has created a Know Your Rights Guide to help individuals understand these protections and how to use them.

๐ŸŒ Website Wednesday!

This weekโ€™s resource highlights our guide for parents on protecting and empowering boys.

Boys experience sexual abuse far more often than many realize. One in six will face it before turning 18.

Cultural myths, stigma, and silence can prevent boys from speaking out or receiving the support they need. This guide was created to empower parents, caregivers, and educators with practical tools. You can also download our free conversation guide for tips on communicating with boys at different ages.

By breaking the silence, we can make sure every boy feels safe, heard, and empowered.

Boys and men who experience sexual abuse often face silence, stigma, and a lack of resources. This book, shared by MaleSurvivor , offers insight into how abuse affects boys across their lives and how healing can happen in safe, supportive spaces.

This work aligns closely with STARโ€™s Protecting and Empowering Boys initiative, which gives parents practical tools for prevention and safety. We are proud to share this and other resources that bring the issue to light, and we will continue expanding this work throughout the year.
