Yesterday one of our HVA and Monroe units were part of the VP motorcade for the commute between DTW and and stops in Monroe County. We have a long history of taking part in motorcade detail when elected officials are in the southeast part of the state, providing a unique opportunity for our crews to participate in.

Meet Senior Paramedic Julia Knipp, one of HVA's three American Ambulance Association Stars of Life.

Julia has served with Huron Valley Ambulance since 2021 and has grown into a strong clinician. Julia is known for her high-quality patient care, excellent mentorship, and ability to motivate others to continue their professional growth.

Meet Integrated Care Paramedic Joe Abel, one of HVA's American Ambulance Association Stars of Life.

Joe has been with our organization since 2016, both at Monroe Community Ambulance and most recently, as an Integrated Care Paramedic for HVA's partnership with TANDEM365, providing care to medically complex patients in their homes.

Joe is a dedicated provider who shows care and compassion for his patients, going out of his way to ensure their needs are met and they feel cared for. In addition to working as a paramedic, Joe is involved with our Bike Medic team, special events operations, and peer support and critical incident stress management groups.

🌟Star of Life Spotlight!🌟
Meet Paramedic Instructor/Coordinator Glen McCormick, the HVA Center for EMS Education's American Ambulance Association Star of Life.

Glen began his service with Huron Valley Ambulance in 1981, joining as an EMT back when we were still known as South Lyon Ambulance. Throughout Glen's 45 years in public safety, he has served as an EMT, AEMT, Paramedic, instructor of ACLS, BLS, PHTLS, and PEPP, and, over the past 15 years, as a Paramedic Instructor/Coordinator, training the next generation of EMS providers. Glen also previously served with the South Lyon Fire Department and at the former St. Joseph Livingston Hospital.

Glen will be retiring from HVA later this year, leaving behind hundreds of EMS providers and thousands of patients he has positively impacted. We are incredibly honored to recognize his years of service with the Star of Life Award.

Meet Senior Paramedic Corey Wells-Marion, one of HVA's three American Ambulance Association Stars of Life.

Corey has served with Huron Valley Ambulance since 2020, originally joining our team as a Mobility Transportation driver before completing EMT and Paramedic training and advancing to Senior Paramedic. Corey is known for his inspiring dedication, friendly personality, and commitment to his patients. In addition to his work as a Paramedic, Corey is part of our Tactical Rescue Team, providing patient care in difficult-to-access and high-stakes environments.

Meet Senior Paramedic Abraham Paternoster, one of HVA's three American Ambulance Association Stars of Life.

Abraham has served with Huron Valley Ambulance since 2020 and has shown himself to be a dedicated and involved employee. In addition to his work as a paramedic, Abraham is a Field Training Officer and is part of our HAZMAT and Special Pathogen Response teams.
