FS2 Update: With foundations nearly complete, the first block walls are going up! Crews are making progress on the detention pond and work around the perimeter of the site. Driveways are all in and being used to bring materials on site.

Join the Scio Food Waste Challenge from May 18 - 22 and learn how simple changes to how you shop, store, consume, and dispose of food can help you significantly reduce your carbon footprint, and save you money on your groceries.

During the challenge, you'll get daily emails with tips and local resources on reducing your food waste. You'll also be connected with a community of people passionate about reducing food waste in Scio Township!

This program is completely free to join and by participating you'll be entered into a drawing for prizes from local businesses like a dinner for two at Zingerman's Roadhouse, a $50 Kroger gift card and more! Sign as an individual or compete as a team at zerowaste.org/scio and invite your friends and family to join the fun!

UPDATE: No more trees!

FREE TREES AT SCIO TOWNSHIP HALL

The Scio Parks Department received approximately 400 free bare root trees and now we'd like to share them with you!

We have 4 species - black cherry, black oak, pig nut hickory, and red maple. They will be color labelled: blue = black oak, blue and white = red maple, orange = pig nut hickory, and pink = black cherry.

They will be in paper bags (with moist soil) at the entrance of Township Hall! Please come and grab as many as you'd like!

Scio Parks had the pleasure of collaborating with Megan Smith from the Reforest, a nonprofit devoted to the American Chestnut! Together we planted over 40 American Chestnuts and American Chestnut hybrids! This is an experimental effort, but we hope with diligence and persistence, we can welcome back the long absent American Chestnut! We are excited to contribute to this research!

Start time for Scio Township Board of Trustees meetings has been changed to 6 pm. The first meeting of 2026 is scheduled for Tuesday, January 13. The Board meets every second and fourth Tuesday of the month.
