🛒💚 Building Connections with Our EMU Community! 💚🦅

On August 31, 2026, Sgt. Gassaway and Officer Ritzler had the opportunity to attend Eastern Michigan University’s After-Hours Grocery Haul, presented by Kroger, at 3200 Carpenter Road.

The exclusive event allowed EMU students to shop, enjoy free food and samples, participate in games and giveaways, listen to live music, learn about employment opportunities, and take advantage of special savings as they prepared for the school year.

Sgt. Gassaway and Officer Ritzler enjoyed connecting with students and being part of such a fun and welcoming event for the EMU community. Events like these provide a great opportunity to build positive relationships and strengthen the connection between our officers and the community we serve.

Thank you to Kroger and Eastern Michigan University for hosting a great event and for welcoming our officers!

SRO Hohman is eager to welcome students back for the school year! Whether it’s your first day of Senior Year or your first day of Kindergarten, SRO Hohman is excited to see the bright faces of Saline High School and Harvest Elementary!

Some reminders for drivers as we welcome the school year back in session:
- Take extra care to look for students walking in and around the school zones.
- You must stop for a school bus displaying the stop bar / stop sign.
- When passing a bicyclist, leave 3 feet between your vehicle and the bicyclist.
- Watch for crossing guards, as they help ensure our students are making it to and from school safely each day!

All of us at Pittsfield Township Department of Public Safety wish all students a happy 2026/2027 school year!

On Thursday, August 20, 2026, our team had the opportunity to participate in a joint training exercise focused on mock crash investigation and reconstruction alongside several of our partner agencies.

A big thank you to Northfield Township, Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office, Ann Arbor Police Department, Milan Police Department, and Livingston County Sheriff’s Office for coming together and making this training possible.

These hands-on exercises provide a valuable opportunity to sharpen our skills, share knowledge, and strengthen the relationships we rely on when responding to serious incidents in our communities.

Training together makes us better prepared to work together when it matters most. Northfield Township Police Department City of Ann Arbor - Police Department
