BES families,

We are excited to announce a unique new partnership that will bring On and Off the P.I.T.C.H. to Bardstown Elementary!

For families who may not be familiar with them, Louisville City FC (LouCity) is Louisville’s professional men’s soccer club, and Racing Louisville FC is Louisville’s professional women’s soccer club competing in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL). Both organizations call Lynn Family Stadium home.

This opportunity is being offered to BES students through the LouCity & Racing Foundation, the nonprofit charitable arm connected to Louisville’s professional soccer organizations. The Foundation works to increase access to soccer for young people while using the game to promote positive health, educational, and social outcomes.

Through this partnership, BES students in grades 2–5 will have the opportunity to participate in On and Off the P.I.T.C.H. There is no cost for students to participate in the program. The program is designed to introduce students to soccer while helping them build confidence, develop healthy habits, and strengthen skills like teamwork, discipline, perseverance, and respect.

One of the things we especially like about this program is who it is intended to reach. We want to provide an opportunity for students who may not already have much experience with soccer. Priority will be given to students who are not currently playing organized soccer.

If your child has been interested in soccer but has never really had the opportunity to try it, this could be a great place to start.

It is also important to understand that this will not be a traditional soccer practice or competitive team, and students will not play games against other teams. On and Off the P.I.T.C.H. will operate as an after-school club. Students will meet once per week, immediately after school, for a 10-week session.

Each club meeting will include two parts:

On the P.I.T.C.H. – Students will spend time learning and practicing soccer through a warm-up, skill of the day, skill game, and team game.

Off the P.I.T.C.H. – Coaches will use soccer to reinforce the five values represented by P.I.T.C.H.:

P – Personal Accountability
I – Intellectually Engaged
T – Trust
C – Commitment
H – Humility

The program goes beyond soccer skills. It also emphasizes physical activity, nutrition and exercise, educational achievement, mentoring, positive relationships, confidence, and personal growth. At the conclusion of each session, participants will receive a form of nutrition such as fruit, a snack, or hydration. Students who complete the program will also receive a soccer ball, bag, and swag.

One important note about registration: the interest/sign-up form for this opportunity will be sent separately from our club and youth athletic announcements on Monday. Families who indicate they are interested will then receive a separate registration form from the LouCity & Racing Foundation to complete before the 10-week series begins.

We are very excited to have the opportunity to connect our students with Louisville’s professional soccer organizations through their Foundation and, most importantly, to give some of our students a chance to experience soccer who may not otherwise have had that opportunity — at no cost to families.

🚗 BES CAR-RIDER DROP-OFF & PICKUP

Families, please review our car-rider map so everyone is familiar with how to enter BES during morning drop-off and afternoon pickup.

When entering the car-rider side of campus from Templin Avenue, please use either of the two available lanes. Both lanes remain open until you reach the merge point shown near the building. Vehicles will then be directed to merge into one lane so students can safely exit in the morning or enter their vehicles in the afternoon.

Using both incoming lanes helps us keep as many vehicles as possible off Templin Avenue and keeps traffic moving.

Thank you for your help! We look forward to seeing our Tigers tomorrow for their second day of school! 🐯

BES Families,

We are excited to welcome our Tigers back for the first day of school tomorrow!

Here are a few reminders to help the morning and afternoon go as smoothly as possible:

Morning Drop-Off:

➡️ Students may be dropped off beginning at 7:00 a.m. We cannot accept students before 7:00 due to staffing.

➡️ Please keep students in your vehicle until the doors open.

➡️ The car rider entrance may only be used by students arriving in a vehicle with a family member. Students may not walk up and enter through the car rider line or the front of the school building.

What to Bring:

✅ Students who did not bring their school supplies to Open House should bring them tomorrow.

✅ Students in grades 3–5 should bring their charged Chromebook.

✅ If your child is new to BES, their Chromebook will be issued as soon as our technology department is able to prepare it.

Breakfast:

Students who would like a plated breakfast must be in the breakfast line by 7:40 a.m. Students arriving after 7:40 will receive a breakfast bag instead of a plated breakfast.

Afternoon Dismissal:

Please be patient with us as we work through car rider dismissal during the first several days of school. The car rider process typically moves much more quickly by the end of the first week as students, families, and staff settle into the routine.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation. We are looking forward to a great first day and an outstanding school year!

💻 BES Chromebook Reminder 💻

BES families, please help your student remember to bring their school-issued Chromebook back to school on Tuesday—fully CHARGED and ready to use! 🔋

Due to state-level changes in how student passwords are managed, all student passwords must also be reset. Students will complete this process with support in their classrooms during the first week of school. No action is needed at home ahead of time.

Thank you for helping our Tigers come prepared!

Were you unable to attend our second-grade orientation during BES Open House?

We have created a video recap to help incoming second-grade families feel comfortable and prepared for the start of school.

Although the presentation was designed with second grade in mind, much of the information may also be helpful for any new or returning BES family.

The video reviews first-day expectations, arrival and dismissal procedures, ParentSquare, our new TIGERS ROAR system, student supports, and other helpful back-to-school information.

📘 BES Families,

We’ve created a back-to-school guide to help new and existing families stay informed as we get closer to the start of school!

Please read the complete guide here:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1A5UKaiIkHLNXJq1Yfc9d7RaXaFHf4qvx/view?usp=sharing

The guide includes:

• Open House on Wednesday, July 29, from
3:00–6:00 PM
• School-supply information
• The Student Handbook
• Arrival, dismissal, and first-day procedures
• Personal-device expectations
• The BES administrative and student-support
team
• ParentSquare, our district’s new
communication platform
• Our new TIGERS ROAR schoolwide
expectations

🏫 First-Day Reminder: Parents and guardians will not be able to walk students to their classrooms on the first day. Students must enter through the car-rider line or bus-rider drop-off area, where BES staff will welcome them and help them reach their classrooms.

📢 ParentSquare is now the primary platform for district, school, and classroom communication. ClassDojo is no longer being used by BES and will not be monitored for incoming messages.

New this year, TIGERS ROAR will provide our shared language for schoolwide expectations:

Respect Ourselves and Others
Own Our Actions
Act Safely
Rise to Expectations

Students will see and hear this language throughout the school, and we look forward to partnering with families to reinforce these expectations.

We are excited to welcome everyone back and look forward to seeing our families at Open House!

We are excited to share some wonderful news for our students and families! 🎉

Bardstown City Schools has been awarded grant funding from the WHAS Crusade for Children to help purchase additional playground equipment for our students.

We are incredibly grateful for the Crusade’s continued support and generosity toward children and schools across our region. This funding will help us expand opportunities for students to play, connect, and enjoy our playground space.

One of the things that makes the WHAS Crusade for Children so special is the direct impact of local giving. Every single cent donated in Nelson County comes back to local schools and organizations that support individuals with disabilities. That means the generosity of our own community continues to make a difference right here at home. 💜💛

A sincere thank you to the WHAS Crusade for Children and to everyone throughout our community who supports its mission. Your generosity makes a real difference for local children and families.

Families, stay tuned! We are working with our vendor to determine the additional items that will be purchased, and we look forward to sharing more as those plans come together.
