Please review the traffic map and information before the first day of school. Following the designated traffic flow and drop-off procedures will help keep students safe and traffic moving smoothly.

Please use caution when pulling around stopped vehicles, drive slowly, and watch carefully for students at all times. Thank you for respecting all designated zones and helping us create a safe and efficient arrival and dismissal process!

💙 Morning Drop-off 💛
⦿ Enter from Madison Avenue and follow the loop one way from west to east.
⦿ Pull as far forward as possible before stopping alongside the curb to unload.
⦿ Buses unload along the curb closest to the school as well and parents must yield to buses.
⦿ Do not park, wait, or leave vehicles unattended in the loop.
⦿ Yield to students at both marked crosswalks.
⦿ Do not park near the reflector-protected areas.

💙 Afternoon Pickup 💛
⦿ Follow the same one-way route through the loop.
⦿ Keep the center driving lane clear while waiting.
⦿ Do not allow traffic to back up onto Madison Avenue.
⦿ Never leave a vehicle unattended in the loop.
⦿ Afternoon buses load in the designated bus lane in the east parking lot.

Visitors and families attending meetings should park in the marked spaces on either side of the east parking lot bus lane.

Wednesday, September 2
6th grade students attend for a full day and dismiss at 3:20 PM.
7th & 8th graders who are NEW TO RIVERSIDE attend and dismiss at 11:30 AM.
Returning 7th & 8th graders do NOT attend on September 2.

Thursday, September 3
🎉 ALL students attend! We’ll welcome our returning 7th & 8th graders back for their first day.
📸 Picture Day for all students!
⚠️ Please note: There is NO Wednesday early release on September 2. Our regular Wednesday 2:20 PM dismissal begins September 9.

A huge Cougar shoutout to our incredible choir teacher, Sarah Spangle, who had the honor of performing the national anthem at two of the three Banana Ball games held right here in Billings!

The Firefighters and Party Animals brought the wildly entertaining, high-energy, fan-first Banana Ball experience to our community for an unforgettable three-game series. Banana Ball has become a nationwide sensation, and those two Billings game streams have already been viewed more than 75,000 times on YouTube!

What an incredible stage—and what an amazing voice to represent our school and community!

A huge thank you to the Billings Police Department for once again bringing real-world learning opportunities to our students at Riverside Middle School!

Last week, Detective Miller visited Riverside to demonstrate crime scene investigation techniques with our students. From hands-on displays to answering thoughtful questions and giving tours of the CSI van, students had an incredible opportunity to learn more about forensic science and careers in law enforcement in an engaging and interactive way.

We are so grateful for the time, energy, and expertise shared with our students.

A special shoutout also goes to our very own SRO Walker. Time and time again, when a teacher reaches out with an idea or request, Officer Walker does whatever it takes to help make it happen for kids. His investment in our school community goes far beyond the school day.

Just another great reason to celebrate Police Week and the partnerships that help make Riverside such a special place for students. # GoCougars

For the month of April, we are excited to recognize Cass Barnes with Riverside’s Exceedingly Ap-Peeling Award!

Cass has made an incredible impact in her role and has quickly become an essential part of keeping Riverside running smoothly. From organizing and managing the detention room to keeping accurate records and helping hold students accountable, Cass consistently goes above and beyond behind the scenes.

What stands out most, though, is the way she connects with students. Cass works hard to build positive relationships — while balancing accountability, consistency, and care. Whether she’s helping students navigate challenges in school and life, tracking tardies, stepping in wherever needed, or simply greeting others with a smile, Cass brings positivity and professionalism to everything she does.

Cass truly embodies the spirit of Riverside by engaging deeply, empowering action, and helping eliminate friction for both students and staff every single day.

Please help us congratulate our incredible April Students of the Month at Riverside Middle School! These students have stood out by demonstrating what it means to be Respectful, Responsible, and Safe while making a positive impact in our school community each and every day.

Riverside staff and families — as a heads up, the Billings Police Department Crime Scene Investigation Van will be parked at Riverside during the school day today as officers work with some of our science classes for educational purposes.
There is no emergency or safety concern. This is simply a hands-on learning opportunity for students connected to science and career exploration. Thanks for your support as we continue bringing real-world learning experiences to our students!
