Rocky Ridge Fire District responded to 51 alarms this week. Hats off to our crews this week for all the extra detailing effort on Engine 102. While Engine Company 102 was operating on a reserve this week, crews took the time to give their main Engine a full detail. It looks fantastic! Our training division made good progress on our confined space props at the new drill field. On Thursday, crews held a rope review class. Please stay safe and have a great weekend!

Rocky Ridge Fire District responded to 75 alarms this week. We had a little fun when the Oscar Mayer Weinermobile drove in from Wisconsin and visited. We helped clean her up and get her back on the road. Thanks for stopping by. On Tuesday, we had a little break in the weather and were able to get the ladder trucks out for some exercise. Rocky Ridge Fire District responded to 70 alarms this week. On Tuesday and Wednesday, we brought in a third party inspection service, Brindlee Mountain, to conduct our annual pump certification test on all of our pumps. On Thursday Chief Lord and Chief Bartlett attended the Shelby County Fire Chief’s Meeting. On Friday, Chief Baker conducted CPAT for a small group of candidates. Rocky Ridge Fire District Week in Review:

Rocky Ridge Fire District responded to 65 alarms this week and over 3000 alarms in 2020. We have included our 2020 run survey. Monday and Tuesday we had a third party inspection service conduct our annual ladder inspections of all our aerial ladders and ground ladders. On Wednesday, we were blessed to have Harcros Chemicals (www.harcros.com) donate citric acid and soda ash for our Haz-Mat truck. Thank you Harcros. Chief Lord, Chief Bartlett and Chief Loux attended CAFCA (Central Alabama Fire Chiefs Association) monthly meeting, in Wednesday. Chief Loux won the door prize, a 32” TV. Congratulations and thank you Dry Tech for sponsoring the giveaway. Please stay safe and have a great weekend!

Happy New Year!! Rocky Ridge Fire District responded to 68 alarms this week. Another busy year with over 3000 calls for 2020. Rocky Ridge Fire District responded to 60 alarms this week. All of our toy drop toys were picked up and delivered to children in need. Thank you all so much for participating. We made Santa run preparations all week and had the honor to drive Santa through the district on Christmas Eve. COVID vaccines are now available to our personnel and we have some members who received their vaccine this week. Again, a very merry Christmas to all!

Rocky Ridge Fire District responded to 72 alarms this week. It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas around the Rocky Ridge Fire Stations. Crews spent this week getting trees up and decorations in place for Christmas. We are receiving all kinds of sweet goodies from our community. We are definitely blessed. Realty South came by this week with hundreds of Christmas presents for our toy drop program. We are so thankful for our loving community we get to serve. Rocky Ridge Fire District Week in Review:

Rocky Ridge Fire District responded to 68 alarms this week. Monday, we met with Lifetime Fitness staff who donated several toys for our toy drive. Thank you Lifetime Fitness. We are also receiving many gifts from the public for our toy drive. Thank you very much! Our training division is making great progress with our confined space props at our new combined department drill field. On Thursday, Station 2 conducted CPAT for several participants. Ladder 122 took part in the procession at Retired Hoover Fire Chief Tom Bradley’s funeral. Finally, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday crews took part with in-service training on our new Lifepak 15s and new Lucas CPR devices. Stay safe and have a wonderful weekend!

Rocky Ridge Fire District responded to 69 alarms this week. We received a custom flag painting with our logo from a past participant that tested for CPAT at Station 2. Thank you very much for this! The big event for the week was the receipt of our new LifePak 15 heart monitor – defibrillators and our new Lucas CPR devices. Rocky Ridge Fire District received 5 each of these as part of a 4.1 million dollar purchase for Jefferson County Fire Departments by Jefferson County utilizing a portion of their CARES Act money. This purchase was authorized from a unanimous decision of our County Commissioners and efforts of the County Manager. Thank you so much to all the commissioners and Mr. Petelos for making this purchase. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday we sent representation to the Lifepak and Lucas training courses. Rocky Ridge Fire District responded to 51 alarms this week. We hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Operation Grateful Heart has begun. We will be accepting toy drop offs through the 22nd of December. We have received all four of our ventilators from a local COVID grant. They will be in service soon on each of our rescue units. The crews protecting us on Thanksgiving had a wonderful lunch and dinner. Stay safe and have a great weekend!

It’s that time of year again! We are proud to partner with North Shelby Fire Department and Rocky Ridge Fire Department to assist the Alabama National Guard Foundation to collect toys for children of service members in need. Please help us brighten the day of these children on Christmas morning by bringing a new unwrapped toy by any Hoover, North Shelby or Rocky Ridge fire station. You may also bring a check made out to Alabama National Guard Foundation. We will be accepting donations until December 22.

Rocky Ridge Fire District responded to 56 alarms this week. Thanks to the blessing of a local grant, we have received ventilators for our transport units and a SCBA / APR mask Quantifit fit test machine. Recruits are working hard in rookie school as they covered extrication, vehicle fire extinguishment, sprinklers, hose advancement and an introduction into live fire training this week. At our Rocky Ridge Fire / Vestavia Hills Fire drill facility, Training Chief Elliott (VHFD) and crews are progressing with the construction of confined space props. Rocky Ridge Fire District responded to 76 alarms this week. All crews were fit tested with their SCBA mask (Thank you OHD). We are finishing up with our hydrant flow testing. Several wrecks this week with the rain and storms, please be careful driving. Recruits are still hard at work in rookie school. Their focus this week was Rapid Intervention Crew (RIC) training and search and rescue techniques. Halloween is anything but typical this year, but we have tried to stay engaged as much as possible within Covid limitations. Remember, time falls back at 0200 on Sunday. When time changes / Change the batteries in your smoke alarms. Stay safe this Halloween weekend!

Through a generous donation, our Haz-Mat Unit received new portable decon showers. Recruit school staff and students focused on hose evolutions and supply hose work with hydrants. Rocky Ridge Fire District responded to 70 alarms this week. We are in pink this month in support of Breast Cancer Awareness. Special love goes out to our Shannon, who is a breast cancer survivor and works in our accounting office. Even with less than optimal weather, Ladder 122 participated in an annual fire prevention parade this past weekend in support of Fire Prevention Month. On Wednesday, Station two hosted CPAT certification testing. On-duty crews continue in October flow testing fire hydrants. Recruit School finished its hardest week, SCBA Consumption Week. Also, they were able to incorporate firefighter rescue work in this week’s drills. Stay safe and have a wonderful weekend!

Rocky Ridge Fire District responded to 57 alarms this week. District Chief Jon Michael Lord in DC120 was on an Alabama EMA deployment in Orange Beach this week with several other Central Alabama fire departments. He returned home safety on Friday. Rookie school continued this week for the recruits focusing on fire extinguisher use, ropes and forcible entry. Earlier in the week, C shift put in some pump training time with one of our upcoming drivers. On Wednesday, crews participated in a virtual edition of EMS Challenge for some physician led CEU credit. Rocky Ridge Fire District responded to 49 alarms this week. This week we started four of our members in recruit school hosted by Mountain Brook Fire Department. Recruits: Goode, Conlon, Eubanks and Nelson will spend the next 10 weeks studying and mastering the skills that they need to meet the standard to become a certified firefighter. Tuesday, on-duty crews did some training on aerial placement. On Thursday Station 2 hosted a CPAT certification test. Stay safe and have a wonderful weekend!
