The American Academy of Ambulatory Care Nursing (AAACN) Research Committee is conducting a national research initiative on evidence-based de-implementation in ambulatory care nursing.

Why this matters: While inpatient nursing has a substantial evidence base, low-value or outdated practices in ambulatory care remain significantly under-researched. This study aims to identify specific practices that nurses believe should be discontinued or modified — helping the specialty move toward more effective, less burdensome care for patients and clinicians alike.

Survey details:
Who: Open to all ambulatory care nurses
Time commitment: Approximately 20 minutes
Purpose: To identify low-value practices as targets for de-implementation

We also extend our deepest gratitude to the nurses serving in our nation’s Armed Forces, whose compassion and expertise support those who serve at home and around the world.

Today, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our nation. Memorial Day is more than the unofficial start of summer. It is a day of remembrance for those who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our freedoms.

The North Dakota Board of Nursing extends our deepest gratitude to all who have served, including the military nurses and healthcare personnel who cared for others in times of war, crisis, and sacrifice. Their courage, compassion, and service will never be forgotten.

As we spend time with family and friends today, may we also take a moment to reflect on the cost of freedom and honor the memory of those who gave everything for it.

Our office is closed today in observance of Memorial Day. Regular business hours will resume Tuesday, May 26.

The State of North Dakota has officially proclaimed May 6–12, 2026 as Nurses Week.

Signed by Governor Kelly Armstrong, this proclamation recognizes the vital role nurses play in delivering safe, compassionate, and high-quality care across our state.
With more than 22,000 nurses serving communities throughout North Dakota, they remain the backbone of our healthcare system—working in hospitals, clinics, long-term care, public health, and beyond.

Nurses continue to be named the most trusted profession in the United States, a reflection of their unwavering commitment to patients and families every single day.

At the North Dakota Board of Nursing, we are proud to support and serve the nurses who care for our communities.

Thank you, North Dakota nurses, for all that you do!

North Dakota Board of Nursing (NDBON) has been made aware that some individuals have received telephone calls from persons falsely claiming to be NDBON staff or law enforcement.

These scam phone calls have “spoofed” NDBON telephone numbers, and therefore appear to originate from NDBON. We have been told that the tone of these calls may be hostile, and in some cases scammers have falsely claimed that a specific action is needed to prevent a nursing license from becoming suspended. We understand that these incidents are similar to recent scam calls targeting other organizations.

Please be wary of these scam calls and do not provide personal information over the phone to anyone you do not know or trust.
