The best way to prevent conflicts with black bears isn’t to remove the bears—it’s to remove the food sources that attract them.

Unsecured trash, bird feeders, pet food, and other attractants can teach bears that neighborhoods are an easy place to find a meal. By securing these attractants, we can reduce human-bear conflicts and give bears a better chance to remain wild.
