Animal abuse is rarely an isolated issue. It is often connected to domestic violence, child abuse, elder abuse, bullying, and other forms of violence within our communities.

Phil Arkow of the National LINK Coalition joined Dr. Jim Lombella of CFA to lead an educational webinar exploring the LINK between animal cruelty and human violence.

Missed the live presentation? The full webinar is now available. Watch, learn, and share — this is information everyone should hear.

Your town can take a stand for wildlife 🦉🐾

Communities are already stepping up to ban deadly Second Generation Anticoagulant Rodenticides (SGARs) on town-owned property — and yours can too. These toxic poisons don’t just kill rodents. They harm owls, hawks, foxes, pets, and other wildlife that are exposed through the food chain.

The movement is growing, and you have the power to bring it to your own community. Speak up, organize locally, and help push for safer, wildlife-friendly solutions. Your town could be next!

A major win for wildlife in Connecticut 🎈

Balloons don’t just disappear after they’re released — they come back down as deadly litter for wildlife. Thankfully this legislative session, Connecticut lawmakers showed up for animals by passing SB 452 — a bill that prohibits the intentional release of helium or other lighter-than-air gas-filled balloons and requires balloons sold in the state to have weights attached beginning 10/1/26!

Thank you to every advocate, supporter, and legislator who helped move this bill across the finish line. Progress for animals is possible when we work together. 🐾

Recapping Earth Day at the Capitol 🌎🦉 what a day!

We had incredible conversations with supporters, legislators, families, and new advocates all rallying behind the push to ban SGARs in Connecticut. And a big shoutout to Newtown for leading the way as the first town in the state to ban SGARs on town-owned properties — a reminder that local action can happen right now.

Grateful to have stood alongside Friends of Animals and A Place Called Hope for such a powerful collaboration!

The time to ban SGARs is NOW. Safer, effective alternatives exist — we don’t need poison to solve this problem.

Take action today and be part of the change: poisonispoison.org

Honored to have been part of this important conversation highlighting “the link” — the undeniable connection between animal cruelty and child abuse. When we protect animals, we’re also protecting people.

Animal cruelty is never an isolated issue—it’s a warning sign we can’t afford to overlook. 🚨

For too long, animal abuse, cruelty, and neglect were dismissed as separate from other forms of family violence. It’s no longer “just a phase” or “only an animal.” It’s a red flag—the tip of the iceberg—and often the first visible sign of broader violence in the home and community.
