In observance of the Memorial Day holiday, Calvert City Hall will be closed on Monday, May 25, 2026. City operations will resume on Tuesday at 8 am.

The City of Calvert is seeking a community-minded resident to serve on the City Council by filling the unexpired term of Alderman Place IV. The deadline is May 29, 2026 at 5 pm.

This is a great opportunity to step up, serve your hometown, and help shape the future of our community. The appointment would last about one year and expire at the next general election in May 2027. Eligibility requirements exist.

If you are interested, please contact City Hall at 979-364-2881 for more information. All candidates must complete a candidate nomination form located at City Hall, 620 Main Street, Calvert. The deadline is May 29, 2026 at 5 pm.

Update on the water pressure: we became aware of low water pressure on the east side of town about an 1.5 hour ago. Public work staff responded and got the problem fixed. We're going to monitor this situation all night, but we have to address the situation manually, and are responding accordingly. Just bear with us, any low water pressure will be temporary. TY

The City of Calvert has some exciting things happening!

We are proud to welcome Cutler Salon, operated by Naomi Cutler and family, to South Beech Street. As the newest business in town—and our only hair salon—we’re thrilled to see this addition to serve our community.

We’re also pleased to share that this morning the Council appointed Robert Young to join the Calvert City Council. We are delighted to have him on board and look forward to his service to our city.

And the momentum doesn’t stop there—next month, we’re anticipating one to two more ribbon cuttings as we continue to welcome new businesses to Calvert! If you like wings and burgers, Calvert will have you covered.
