This year marks America’s semiquincentennial—the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. To commemorate this historic milestone, the U.S. Conference of Mayors (USCM) in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts are launching the America 250 City Art Poster Project.

Canton is looking forward to collaborating with local artists to create visual representations (posters) that celebrate local history and inspire hope for the future in honor of the semiquincentennial. Submissions can come from a range of artists, from children and youth in community arts programs to professional and amateur artists.

Every submission will be eligible for a chance to win a prize from Canton Township based on the artists’ age category. In addition, all entries will play an important role in this year’s Liberty Fest.

Just a reminder that as part of township ordinance, homeowners and occupants are required to remove snow and ice from any sidewalks adjacent to their property after a snowfall. The relevant ordinance requires snow/ice to be removed from sidewalks within 72 hours after the snow has fallen. It is illegal under Michigan law to deposit snow or ice into the street, meaning you can’t shovel or blow snow from your driveway or sidewalk into the roadway.

When a snow emergency is declared (typically when around five inches of snow or more are predicted), on-street parking is prohibited across Canton Township. This makes room for snow-plows and ensures emergency vehicles can get through if needed. Vehicles left on the street during a snow emergency may be ticketed and/or towed.

Also, please remember that some of your neighbors may need help in this area. Please assist those in need when and where you can!

The holiday season means millions of people are decorating, buying lights and sharing new gifts like televisions, computers, or other electronic gadgets. With that comes the need to retire the old gadgets. Finding the best option for getting rid of outdated electronics is getting easier every year. Remanufacturing and recycling unwanted electronics are important because they contain valuable, critical metals that should be put back into the industrial cycle instead of burying them in landfills.

Cherry Hill Village is proposed to welcome a new residential and retail building 🏗️🏬 under a recently shared development plan. This project could bring additional housing options 🏠 and neighborhood-serving retail 🛍️ to the area.
