At approximately 5:20 a.m. this morning, Bold Spring Fire and Carnesville Fire were dispatched to a reported Commercial Structure Fire. Carnesville arrived on scene first and found a fully involved stack house. Crosslays were immediately deployed and crews worked fast to prevent the fire from spreading to surrounding buildings and fields. No injuries were reported, and the fire was extinguished.

Engine 42 will return to Franklin County tomorrow after a 6-day deployment in Brantley County on the Hwy 82 fire. By sending multiple crews, we were able to maintain an active crew around the clock. During an active shift today, 3,600 feet of trunked 1¾-inch hose and 1,800 feet of 1-inch forestry line were connected to a single discharge into the wildfire to extinguish active fire and hotspots.
That’s 5,400 feet on a single line—over 1 mile of hose! For you salty folks, it took 150 psi with a friction loss of 91 psi. Engine 42 pumped a total of 83,000 gallons of water during this week’s deployment.

Bold Spring Engine 42, Canon Tanker 412, Sandy Cross Tanker 61 and Royston Tanker 1 departed from Franklin County this evening to assist Brantley County with ongoing wildfire efforts.
These dedicated firefighters are providing critical support to protect lives, property, and communities during this challenging time. Please keep the crews in your thoughts and prayers as they work under demanding conditions.
We are grateful for their service and wish them a safe and successful mission.

Our crew had a great time assisting with Ag Day and teaching 5th grade students all about grease fire safety in the kitchen.
We walked the kids through what to do if a grease fire breaks out:
✅ Never throw water on it — that can make it explode!
✅ Smother the flames with a lid and turn off the heat.
✅ Keep a proper fire extinguisher ready (only Class K extinguishers are suitable for grease fires)— and remember the PASS technique for extinguishers of all classes:
P — Pull the pin
A — Aim at the base of the fire
S — Squeeze the handle
S — Sweep from side to side
✅ If it gets out of control, get out, call 911, and let us handle the rest!
The students were engaged, asked awesome questions, and learned some lifesaving tips.

Around 23:55 hrs last night, Bold Spring Rescue and Sandy Cross Fire were dispatched to the area of Hwy 51 and Cole Rd for a car vs commercial vehicle crash with reported multiple entrapments. Due to the dispatch notes, Bold Spring requested Royston Rescue to assist with extrication.
Upon arrival, Bold Spring and Sandy Cross crews quickly determined there was no entrapment. Royston Rescue was cancelled en route and returned to service. The on-scene crews then assisted EMS with patient care.
A total of three patients sustained injuries and were transported to trauma centers for further care and evaluation.

02/19/2026

At approximately 3:40 a.m. today, Bold Spring Rescue was dispatched to the area of Exit 160 on Interstate 85 for a multiple-commercial-vehicle crash with entrapment.
Upon arrival, Rescue 4 and Squad 4 found a wreck involving four commercial vehicles and one passenger vehicle. One occupant was trapped in their commercial vehicle due to the steering column pressing against their leg. Crews from both units worked quickly, using a chain and come-along to roll the steering column off the patient. The patient was extricated safely with no serious injuries. Two patients were transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
