Pathways Innovation Center’s Health Science Program offers students hands-on learning through courses such as Nursing I and II. Throughout the year, students apply their technical skills during practice clinicals, take one another’s vital signs, refine their professional bedside manner, and master scrub techniques through timed, peer-based simulations. Through these experiences, learners gain a strong foundation in both clinical procedures and the professionalism required in healthcare.

Pathways Innovation Center Education & Training program of study provides high school students the opportunity to take courses focused on Child Development and Early Childhood Education.

Students put their learning into action by planning and hosting an engaging field trip for preschoolers from Lincoln Elementary at Pathways Innovation Center. During their visit, the preschool students toured the campus and observed high school students participating in programs such as culinary arts, welding, and construction, gaining early exposure to the wide range of classes offered at PIC.

The high school students were responsible for the leadership and administrative duties for the event, organizing and coordinating activities, and ensuring sufficient time for the preschool students to tour the PIC campus, play games, make crafts, and have a snack.

Pathways Innovation Center's Annual Pet Day offers Veterinary Science students an exciting opportunity to demonstrate and highlight their professional veterinary skills.

Wendy Po***ck, the Ag & Vet Science teacher at PIC, started this clinical practice day nine years ago to provide students with hands-on experience working with live animals in a classroom setting. Students bring a variety of pets, including dogs, cats, sheep, guinea pigs, and rabbits, allowing them to practice examining different types of animals. By integrating their knowledge of anatomy and physiology, nutrition, animal behavior, the ethics of animal care and animal husbandry, and much more, these students expertly illustrated what they are learning throughout the program.

Students took a minute out of their practice to share with us their reflections on the experience:

"It is really beneficial to be around animals and see how they actually act. It is also really good hands-on experience on how to handle and properly care for animals." ~ Morgan

"It is really nice to hear an active heartbeat and to see an active respiratory rate. There are just a lot of good benefits, especially if you actually do want to go into Vet Science, Pet Day helps you out quite a bit." ~ Hadly

"Pet Day helps people understand different animals and how different animals look healthy. It is great for people to be around the animals and get more experience with them." ~ Maddie
