The Garden Tour Fundraiser is coming!

Mark your calendars for Saturday, June 20th. Twelve friends and neighbors of the Library are busy preparing to open their garden gates to Library supporters!

The biennial Garden Tour is a self-guided experience held rain or shine between the hours of 10am and 4pm on Saturday, June 20th. Fill a car with friends and take a leisurely road trip through our own back yard to learn from and and admire unique specimens, native plants, ponds and charming outbuildings, and more!

Tickets are on sale now, with a cost of $30 each - all proceeds benefit the Cross' Mills Public Library. If you've borrowed books, movies, magazines or museum passes; if you've come to a movie, a concert, a craft class, or a lecture, thank a gardener! Tickets may be purchased in-person at the Library with cash or check, and can also be ordered online through our website via PayPal, Venmo, or credit card. Digital tickets are emailed in weekly batches.

Please direct any questions to [email protected], or give us a call.

We are making progress toward our anticipated June 15th renovation completion date. Contractors are working, mostly in the lower level, while we are providing library services upstairs. Which means:

It is occasionally noisy and dusty.
The lower level remains closed and our lower level lift remains closed.
Our nonfiction section and TV series are still inaccessible to the public for browsing.
The eight downstairs desktop computers are inaccessible to the public. However, three laptops and one desktop computer, along with printer access, are available for public use upstairs.

As we get ready to complete our renovation we are searching for a Community Learning Center Coordinator to help us plan and implement programs for our renovated space. Please see here for a job description and how to apply.

It's Citizen Science Month! As an official partner of America 250, SciStarter is challenging us to achieve 2.5 million Acts of Science!

Each April, Citizen Science Month celebrates the people, projects, and scientific outcomes made possible through public participation. This April, they are also working together toward a shared goal of 2.50 Million Acts of Science, marking America's 250th Birthday through collective discovery, service, and impact.

What is an Act of Science? An Act of Science is any real way you help science. During Citizen Science Month, this can include sharing observations with a project, helping analyze data, attending a citizen science event, or completing the Foundations of Citizen Science training. Each of these actions counts as an Act of Science.

The goal of 2.50 Million Acts of Science shows how many small actions, taken together, can create a big scientific impact.

Anyone can participate from anywhere, at any time. Every Act Counts! Try one of these spring studies, or visit the Library and check out one of our Citizen Science kits - Observing Pollinators, Measuring Light in the Night Sky, Biodiversity, and Monitoring Air Quality.
