Women United - Charlottesville

Women United - Charlottesville Women United is a program of United Way of Greater Charlottesville. We've accomplished all this through the power of collective giving.

Through collective and strategic giving and thoughtful action, Women United empowers and uplifts organizations supporting women and/or children in the Greater Charlottesville community. Women United in Philanthropy has awarded over $640,000 in nonprofit grants since its inception in 2005. Collectively, our members have impacted thousands of women and children in our community through our support o

f local non-profits that provide education, advocacy, housing, medical & mental health services, and even food, for women and children in our community who need it the most. Every dollar we give is from membership of local women who want to make a difference. Help us magnify our impact in our Community! Membership is open and accepted year-round.

It takes a lot of effort to deliver 1,000+ family support kits! 💪👏

Volunteers at our Family Day of Service event last month assembled more than 1,000 kits filled with much-needed wellness items such as oral health supplies, laundry supplies, and more. Our Belonging and Engagement Manager Markiana has been working to get these kits, plus donated children's books, to and from our amazing community partners so they can be distributed to local families who need them. Pictured here are her stops with Book Baskets and Child Health Partnership .

Thanks again to all of the community members who helped put these kits together and our other community partners making positive impacts on families in our region (ReadyKids Piedmont Family YMCA Albemarle Foundation for Education). The 2026 United Way Family Day of Service was cohosted with Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital Foundation and Women United - Charlottesville.

Generosity and leadership are key attributes of Women United members, and are imperative to our mission of making impactful, lasting change for the betterment of our community.

Does this ring true for you? If so and you aren't a Women United member yet, consider becoming one today! Learn more at www.womenunitedcville.org.
