HJ CARROLL PARK CARETAKER(S) WANTED!
Jefferson County Parks & Recreation is seeking one or two people to play a key ‘live-on-site’ role. There is seasonal variation, but on average, the caretaker(s) work 20 hours per week helping to maintain and supervise this beautiful day-use park. Must be on-site consistently 5 days a week. In exchange for your service, we provide a large, private, gated space with full hook ups, landscaped yard, and storage space. We pay for electric, water, sewer, propane, private broadband internet, and garbage service.
Bring your own RV. This position is year-round & ideally at least 2 to 3 years. This is an annual contract services agreement, not a Jefferson County employment opportunity. Position start date is flexible but could be as soon as May 1, 2026.

People are asking…what’s the latest on the Rec Center Fundraiser? As of this morning, the fund has raised almost $18,000 with a match from donors from Jefferson Community Foundation of $42,500. That means they need to raise just under $25,000 by April 1 to get the match and secure funding for the rec center and its playground to stay open through 2026.
What happens next?
-Attend the Port Townsend City Council business meeting on April 6th at 6 pm. What are they doing to help?
-Attend the County Commissioners special meeting about Parks and Rec budgeting on Friday, April 10 at 5pm at the Rec/Senior Center to voice your opinion about the cuts.
-Reach out to our state representatives, Mike Chapman, Adam Bernbaum & Steve Tharinger about what the state can do to help with this budget shortfall.

The fund to keep the Recreation Center in Port Townsend open for 2026 is up and rolling! This is not what anyone wanted but this money will keep the heart of parks and rec open while bigger and better plans come together! Give if you are able.
