Today at 1000, associates at our 26 OhioHealth hospitals and free-standing emergency departments held a 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony at each care site and lowered our flags to half-mast.

Together in time, we recognized the events of that day, offered thoughts and prayers, and spoke of our memories. Forever etched into our minds are those that succumbed to the tragedies, where exactly each of us were when we learned of the strikes, and how the people of our nation united. We will never forget.

We are so happy Layton Waugh, trauma survivor, was able to join us for The Ohio EMS Conference presented by OhioHealth yesterday. Layton survived an aortic injury from a gun shot would. His family, emergency responders and healthcare team members joined us for the recognition.

A 19-year-old who had a slim chance of survival after he was shot in the chest in December spoke at the Ohio EMS Conference on Monday.

On May12 Firefighter/Paramedic T. Merdeath was recognized at the annual "Stroke Survivor & Caregiver" dinner hosted by OhioHealth & Riverside Hospital. His immediate actions during patient care resulted in a stoke patient having a positive outcome, leading to a full recovery.
