We’re excited to share a new white paper highlighting the important role Ohio’s Area Agencies on Aging play in MyCare Ohio and the transition to the Next Generation program.

The transition has given Ohio’s AAAs an opportunity to evolve and modernize—strengthening coordination across the state, developing new capabilities, and building partnerships while maintaining the local knowledge, relationships, and LTSS expertise that have always been at the heart of the aging network.

The paper, developed with Aurrera Health Group, tells the story of what Ohio’s 12 AAAs have accomplished together and the value of connecting managed care with strong community-based organizations.

Read the white paper:

Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs) can make integrated care models for people who are dually eligible for Medicare and Medicaid more effective when states engage them early, clearly define their roles, and support them as a coordinated network. 📊 New Report Highlights the Impact of Ohio’s Area Agencies on Aging

What does aging look like in Ohio—and how are Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs) responding to the needs of older adults, caregivers, and communities?

A new report from USAging provides a closer look at the work of Ohio’s 12 Area Agencies on Aging, comparing statewide data with national trends.

All 12 Ohio AAAs participated in USAging’s 2025 National Survey, providing a comprehensive snapshot of the Aging Network across the state.

📌 Some key findings:

• 3.08 million Ohioans are age 60 or older—representing 25.9% of the state’s population.

• Ohio AAAs served more than 260,000 consumers in 2024, including approximately 92,800 people receiving registered Older Americans Act services.

• Ohio AAAs connected with an estimated 538,000 older adults and family caregivers through outreach efforts.

• 83% of Ohio AAAs provide caregiver navigation, helping caregivers connect with the services and supports they need.

• 50% of Ohio AAAs report maintaining waitlists for services such as home-delivered meals, homemaker/chore services, personal care, respite, case management, congregate meals, and transportation.

• Ohio AAAs are serving more than older adults—100% provide some type of service to consumers under age 60, reflecting the growing role of AAAs in supporting people with disabilities, caregivers, people living with dementia, veterans, and other community members.

This data demonstrate the breadth and impact of Ohio’s Aging Network while also highlighting the growing demand for services and supports that help people live healthy, independent, and connected lives in their communities.
