Motorists are reminded that Ohio’s Move Over Law is a lifesaving law that requires motorists to cautiously shift over one lane – or slow down if changing lanes is not possible – when passing any vehicle with flashing lights on the side of the road. Move over laws now exist in all 50 states to protect everyone who works and travels on our roads. This law applies to vehicles with flashing lights of any color; including law enforcement, emergency responders, road construction, maintenance vehicles, utility crews and tow trucks.

Secure it. Double-check it. Drive with confidence: tie items down with rope, straps, or netting; secure large objects directly to your vehicle or trailer; cover loads with a sturdy tarp or net. If you can: Change lanes away from the vehicle with flashing lights.
