â ď¸ IMPORTANT ADMINISTRATIVE NOTICE: Social Media Terms & Public Safety
The Hendricks County Animal Shelter is issuing the following directive regarding recent activity on our official page.
While we understand the publicâs deep passion for animal welfare, we have observed a critical and dangerous trend: individuals are posting private personal information, including the physical home addresses of individuals involved in pending criminal or animal control cases, in our comment sections.
THIS BEHAVIOR WILL NOT BE TOLERATED!
While we welcome community discussion, constructive feedback, and advocacy for our animals, we have a zero-tolerance policy for actions that compromise the safety and privacy of the individuals who work tirelessly to serve this county, as well as the integrity of our legal system.
Moving forward, please be advised of the following guidelines regarding our digital and physical spaces:
⢠Zero Tolerance for Doxxing and Addresses: Posting physical home addresses, workplaces, phone numbers, or private personal data of any individualâincluding those involved in active criminal or animal control casesâis strictly prohibited. Any comment containing this information will be deleted instantly, AND the user will be permanently blocked from our page without warning.
⢠Protection of Active Legal Proceedings: Publicly posting personal details or inciting online retaliation against individuals involved in active investigations directly jeopardizes the legal process. It compromises evidence, interferes with law enforcement, and can legally damage our ability to secure justice and permanent custody for the animals in our care.
⢠Escalation to Law Enforcement: The Hendricks County Animal Shelter will formally document all instances of doxxing, targeted harassment, or threats of vigilantism occurring on this page and forward them directly to the Hendricks County Sheriffâs Department and the Hendricks County Prosecutorâs Office for legal review.
⢠Restricted Communication: To maintain public safety and protect the integrity of active legal proceedings, comment sections on specific posts may be strictly limited or disabled entirely.
Our staff work tirelessly under strict legal and operational guidelines to care for animals and uphold the law. We ask our community to allow the justice system to work through the proper legal channels, rather than compromising cases on social media.
Thank you for your cooperation and continued support in keeping our community and the animals of Hendricks County safe! đž
