Meet Kai! 🐾

Kai Wachi is our longest‑stay dog, and he is as cute as they come! He’s a very well‑mannered boy who already knows sit and down, and he’s incredibly food‑motivated. Our awesome volunteers have learned that he absolutely loves playing in the pool. He’s also a staff favorite—one team member shared, “He is my favorite dog here because he has the best puppy‑dog eyes and is so sweet. He loves butt scratches and hanging out in the play yard.”
Kai would likely do well with both kids and other dogs in the home. Meet this amazing boy today! 🐾

Meet Frankie🐾

Frankie is an absolute beauty! She’s a smart girl who already knows sit, down, come, leave it, place (for kennel), and touch. She’s housebroken and crate trained, too! Frankie has previously been described as affectionate, a lap dog, and a true cuddler. She would love to be your one‑and‑only pet and will happily follow you around, staying right by your side.

Meet this amazing girl today! ❤

What would you title this album cover??

Misty and Meadow are clearly about to drop their debut record, and we need a title.

A few ideas:
Two Cool Cats
Songs From the Living Room
No More Rehearsals Just a Home
We Need Wet Food Or Else

But really, these two are hoping their next big gig is a home!

Misty and Meadow are a bonded pair available for adoption and would love to meet their future people. In the meantime, give us your best album title in the comments.

And please share - maybe their biggest fan is out there waiting for them.

Enrichment is a big part of daily animal care in the shelter and a great thing to add to your own pet's routine as well. One of the best parts about enrichment is that is can be as easy or as complicated as you make it. The goal is just to make an activity that gets your pet to do the things that come naturally to them.

One simple enrichment activity we love here in our kennels is scented toilet paper tubes. These tubes are sprayed with duck scent to give the dogs something interesting to sniff and investigate. The paper is safe for shredding and easy to clean up after they are done.

Do you use smells for your own pet's enrichment? What kind of scent games have you tried at home?

We’re out of kitten food! 🚨

Kitten season is still hitting us HARD, and with hundreds of kittens currently moving through our shelter and foster system, we’re going through food faster than we can keep the shelves stocked.

Right now, we’re especially in need of different types and flavors of wet kitten food and Friskies pate. Friskies pate is a lifesaver to have on hand for our picky little eaters who need some extra encouragement to eat and gain weight.

If you’re able to donate, we would be incredibly grateful. Every can helps us keep tiny bellies full and gives our foster families the supplies they need to care for these babies. And as always, we’re so thankful to have a community that continues to show up for our animals when we need you most!! 🐾

Please see our wishlist here and share if you can! Thank you again to our incredible community that helps us help them!!: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/1UBQGR8C085R3?ref_=wl_share

We have some very exciting news to share!!

The Aurora Animal Shelter is so happy to announce our partnership with ! Some of our adorable, adoptable cats will now be hanging out at Cat People, giving them a brand-new place to meet their future families. 🐱

Cat People is a brand-new community space created for cat lovers to relax, spend time with friends, and, of course, meet some seriously cute cats! We’ve been working closely with the Cat People team throughout their journey to open their doors, and we couldn’t be more excited to support them as they create this special space for the community.

Even better, this partnership gives our cats another opportunity to get out of the shelter environment, show off their personalities, and hopefully catch the eye of someone looking for a new furry family member!

So, whether you’re hoping to find your next best friend, looking for a fun new place to visit with friends, or simply need some quality cat time in your life, be sure to stop by Cat People and say hello to our adoptable kitties!

Head over to ’s page to learn more about their space, the cats currently available, and how you can come visit. The cats can't wait to see you there!! 🐾

Burt here with an important message!

Our shelter pups have a few things on their wish list… and they’re hoping YOU can help!

NON-RAWHIDE CHEWS — We need them in all sizes, but our bigger pups are especially looking for large and extra-large chews!

CHEESE WIZ — Yes, you read that right! Our pups love this cheesy treat for enrichment.

TRAINING TREATS — Small, tasty, and irresistible is the name of the game! These treats help us build relationships with our more reserved pups and support our robust enrichment programs.

Every chew, treat, and cheesy snack helps make shelter life a little brighter.

Want to make a shelter dog’s day? Pick up an item from our wish list and help us keep those tails wagging!

Because around here, chews + cheese + treats = very happy dogs!

View our Wishlist here: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/49VR5GJ1BW95?ref_=wl_share

Donations can also be made in-person at the shelter during hours of operation.
We are located at: 15750 E 32nd Ave, Aurora, CO 80011

On behalf of Burt, thank you for thinking of us!

Meet Beetle! 🐾
This five‑year‑old malamute has been with us for a month, which is way to long for this perfect girl! She is truly the sweetest and cutest girl. Beetle does well with other dogs and even disengaged beautifully during a dog test when the other dog was being a bit rude.
She’s a talker with plenty of opinions—always happy to chat with you in classic malamute style!
Come meet this wonderful pup today! ❤

Meet Joffery and Jamie! 🐾
These two pups came in very scared, but they’ve shown how much comfort they find in the presence of other dogs. Each of them would thrive in a home with a confident canine companion to help guide them.
Both boys will need to learn leash skills and the basics, and they would love a patient, understanding home where they can settle in at their own pace.
Come meet one—or both—today! ❤

[Image Descriptions: First, Joffery is held in a staff members arms. Second, Jamie stands, looking at the camera with his head turned.]
