NDSU Dickinson Research Extension Center The Dickinson Research Extension Center has a unique blend of staff and programs. Research and Extension staff include animal, crop and range scientists.

The Dickinson Research Extension Center was established by the 1905 North Dakota Legislature as a research location representative of the Missouri Plateau region. The goal was to develop research on crop production for farmers of the region and to improve native and introduced forage crop production for cattle ranchers. Over the years the Center has grown from the original 160 acres to the current

4,916 acres - 3,259 acres are at the ranch unit north of Dickinson where range and beef research is conducted. Today, the Dickinson Research Extension Center has a unique blend of staff and programs.

🚨The 2026 IPM Crop Survey is underway!
Please join us in welcoming Emma Aberle, our new IPM Scout at the Dickinson Research Extension Center. She’ll be surveying fields and setting traps across southwest North Dakota this season. Emma is a rising junior at NDSU studying agricultural education, extension education, and horticulture. She's looking forward to working closely with producers to identify the pests and diseases threatening North Dakota's agricultural communities. Look for Emma this summer in a state fleet vehicle with NDSU and IPM Scout decals!
