DNREC’s Low- to Moderate-Income Solar Program is meant to bring renewable energy to a segment of the Delaware population that has historically been underserved by existing state programs and incentives.
There are two different pathways to qualify for receiving a cost-free or reduced-cost solar installation on your home.
Low-income qualified households can receive a cost-free solar installation of up to 4.0 kW.
Applications and approvals are obtained through the Weatherization Assistance Program, which serves low-income households with cost-free weatherization.
Moderate-income households can receive a reduced cost solar installation. Applications and approvals are obtained through the Green Energy Program, with applicants specifically requesting the reduced-cost solar installation as a moderate-income household.

In celebration of National Estuaries Week, DNREC will hold a two-day Research and Stewardship Symposium at the St. Jones and Blackbird Creek reserves, Sept. 22 and 23.

The symposium will showcase the Reserve’s mission of engaging people, applying science and protecting places.
National Estuaries Week is Sept. 19-27.
The symposium will feature presentations, a poster exhibition, demonstrations, site tours and hands-on experiences.
Day one will run from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the St. Jones Reserve at 818 Kitts Hummock Rd., Dover.
The second day will be a site visit to the Blackbird Creek Reserve in Townsend to explore land conservation efforts, as well as past and present restoration sites and research projects.
Day two will run from 9 a.m. to noon at the Blackbird Creek Reserve at 801 Blackbird Landing Rd., Townsend.
The event is free, but registration is required. The registration deadline is Sept. 4.
Participants can choose to attend one or both days of symposium events.

Did you know that between 2020 and 2026, the number of electric vehicles registered in Delaware grew from approximately 2,000 to more than 17,000? There are also more than 40,000 hybrid vehicles registered in the state.

Did you know that Delaware is electrifying its state vehicle fleet by replacing gasoline-powered vehicles with electric vehicles as they reach the end of their service life? To date, the state has purchased more than 140 light-duty EVs, reducing greenhouse gas emissions while lowering fuel and maintenance costs.

This work supports the 2025 Delaware Climate Action Plan and the 2025 Delaware EV Roadmap. Delaware has already met its goal of transitioning 15% of the state's light-duty fleet to electric vehicles by 2026 and continues to expand EV charging infrastructure at state facilities. Most recently, the state deployed 13 new battery electric Chevrolet Blazer police vehicles to the Capitol Police and the Department of Correction, demonstrating their continued commitment of leading by example in clean transportation.

Did you know that Delaware’s Community Solar program, which is regulated by the Delaware Public Service Commission (PSC), provides an opportunity for Delmarva Power customers to receive credit for electricity generated by large-scale solar projects without installing panels on their own property?

DNREC’s Electric Vehicle Charging Equipment Rebate Program provides rebates for Level 2 electric vehicle charging stations purchased and installed after May 1, 2025.
Four types of charging stations are eligible:
• Multi-family: Apartments and condos with four or more residential units.
• Public Access: Charging stations that are open to the public, such as retail centers, park and rides, hospitals, schools and universities, downtown areas, parking garages, hotels, parks and destinations and attractions.
• Workplace: Employers in a non-residential place of business.
• Fleet: Charging stations for fleet vehicles only and not available to the public.
Grant amounts include:
• $700,000 for multi-family dwellings
• $300,000 for public access, workplace and fleet

• Understanding PFAS Fate in Salt Marshes: Current Research at the St. Jones Reserve
• Collaborative Science with DNERR
The second day of the symposium will explore past and present restoration sites and research projects at the Blackbird Creek Reserve in Townsend.
The on-site experience will include:
• A walking tour of habitat restoration sites
• A wagon tour showcasing a variety of research and restoration projects

DNREC’s Energy Efficiency Investment Fund offers rebates to businesses to perform energy assessments, to make general energy improvements and to implement custom, site-specific improvements for either new or existing buildings.

The grant amount for DNREC's Green Energy Program for residential installations has increased to a maximum of $10,000.
DNREC’s Green Energy Fund administers rebates to promote the use of several forms of renewable energy in Delaware, including photovoltaic (solar), geothermal, solar water heating and wind.
Information on the programs offered is available online, as well as a list of participating contractors and how to apply for a rebate.
