It takes a village.
Forgive me in advance if I overlook any entity - it’s not my intention.

We have some fantastic partners that assist during times like this - The Red Cross for starters assisting those who were displaced from the Super Lodge.

The City of Dover is incredibly grateful to the American Red Cross for stepping in to assist residents who were directly impacted and displaced by last night’s tornado.

Red Cross volunteers worked alongside the City and CERT volunteers to late night/early morning hours to provide support to those who were directly affected and who were in need of immediate assistance because of the tornado.

There are specific parameters for us to be able to utilize the Red Cross and unfortunately unless you were staying at the Super Lodge you are not eligible. Trust me when I say if they could help everyone, with every need, they would. They are great folks doing great work! Please do not stretch their already thin resources asking for assistance, those who were eligible were assisted.

We also had food donated to feed emergency responders (Mission BBQ) and others donated to those individuals displaced (Burger King, someone donated pizza, Smack and Chelle and their teams put out a cry for help and donations of snacks and water that poured in last night - it was all so appreciated!!
Justina, Doug, and others have a table set up at Days Inn for additional donations and supplies. I know I am missing many by name and maybe after a nap I could do better but I wanted to send out our appreciation so folks know we see you all as part of our village! Thank you!!

Additional way of contacting us!

08/21/2026

We are without internet (email accessibility) and phone service (through Verizon) in many of the city facilities - crews are still working on debris removal and many other aspects to restore us to some level of normalcy.

If you need assistance - of course Emergency issues call 911 (this is not affected) non emergency please call 736-7111. Emails can be sent to [email protected]

The yard waste limit is being lifted over the next two weeks to aid in getting everything cleaned up. Please do not block storm drains with your piles of yard waste.
Stay safe!
