Our goal at the Edgartown Public Library is to provide a welcome space for all year-round Islanders, seasonal, and daily visitors to browse our collection, use a computer or free wifi, or simply relax in a comfy chair. We house over 34,000 books, 2,600 music CDs, 7,200 DVDs and BluRays, and offer free downloads of thousands of audio and Ebook titles. We belong to the CLAMS consortium, which allows

Opera Club: Gounod’s "Faust"🎭
Sunday, August 16th, 1:00-4:00 PM

Director Des McAnuff’s production of Gounod’s Faust premiered at the Met in 2011. Its lead cast—featuring charismatic tenor Jonas Kaufmann as Faust, soprano Marina Poplavskaya as Marguerite, and bass René Pape as Méphistophélès—was heartily acclaimed by critics.

The updating of Goethe's story to the period between World Wars I and II is fascinating and highly theatrical. Maestro Yannick Nézet-Séguin brings out all the lyricism and drama in Gounod's score. Sung in French and shown with English subtitles, the opera runs approximately three hours, including intermission. All adults are welcome.

This program is generously funded by the Friends of the Edgartown Free Public Library.

Partner Dancing Class with Maria & Tad Lawcewicz💃

Learn partner dancing with Maria and Tad Lawcewicz of the MV Ballroom Dancers! Partners are welcome, but not necessary for participation. Participants will learn the basics of various partner dance styles that can be used in a variety of settings, from weddings and formal events to concerts and clubs. This class is beginner-friendly and open to all levels.

Classes will take place monthly from April through September.

Join us for an educational presentation with Dr. Robert Gagel on strategies for preventing and treating fractures and osteoporosis. A Q&A will follow the discussion.

Dr. Gagel is the former Head of the Department of Internal Medicine at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX, and has served as the President and Chairman of the Bone Health and Osteoporosis Foundation.
