Yesterday evening, crews spent time at the C&C Resource Yard within the township conducting a vehicle rescue and extrication drill. Members worked through multiple hands-on scenarios including door openings, pull backs, and roof removal techniques.

Newberry crews trained alongside members from Lisburn Fire Department, continuing to build strong working relationships and operational coordination between departments.

We would also like to thank C&C Towing for allowing us to utilize their property and for their continued partnership and support of the fire service.

We would like to thank WellSpan Health for their generous donation of a former medic response vehicle that will now serve as a command/support vehicle for the Newberry Township Fire Department.

With increasing operational demands, hospital-related activity, trainings, meetings, and overall command responsibilities, the need for a dedicated department command vehicle has continued to grow over the past several years. This vehicle will help strengthen our operational readiness and support our continued response efforts throughout the Township and surrounding communities.

We appreciate WellSpan’s continued support of local emergency services and look forward to continuing to build this partnership moving forward.

Thank you to FOX43 for covering the story.

The officers and members would like to congratulate Firefighter Troy Hemming in completing and passing his Interior FF class at the York County Fire School in the beginning of May. Troy has put in close to over 170 hours of class time between the essentials program and obtaining his Hazmat Operations certification.

It has been a steady past 24 hours for the department.

Yesterday, crews handled 3 calls for service while also attending a Damage Assessment Training Class at the Emergency Services Complex. Special thanks to EMA Director Alsted for the invitation and opportunity to attend the training.

Early this morning, the Rescue was dispatched to assist Dauphin County with a water rescue incident on the Susquehanna River. The Rescue assisted with manpower for Boat 27 (York Haven) while Chief 22 from Mt. Wolf oversaw York County operations.

Around 6:00 AM, the Rescue responded into York Haven Borough for a reported residential structure fire. Crews assisted Truck 89-2 with deploying a handline to extinguish smoldering debris within the basement area.

Shortly after, at approximately 8:00 AM, the Engine responded to assist WellSpan Newberry with establishing a landing zone for a critical patient transport.

In addition to emergency responses, department personnel will also be present each evening from now through Sunday at the BAPS Motor Speedway Carnival. Be sure to stop out, support the event, and say hello to our crews throughout the weekend!
