Warmer weather is here, giving us more opportunities to enjoy the outdoors, but it also increases the risk of tick bites and infection from the diseases they may carry. Ticks are found in areas with animals and vegetation, but there are precautions you can take to reduce your exposure, such as:

👚 Wear light-colored clothing that makes it easier to see ticks and remove them before they get to bare skin.

🌳 Treat bare skin with repellants containing 20 to 30% DEET. Treat clothing with repellants containing permethrin prior to entering areas with ticks. Always read and follow label directions!

✅ Upon your return, check for ticks on clothing, gear, pets, and body.

🚿 Bathe after visiting tick-infested areas.

We are so blessed and excited to report we were one of many programs across the country fortunate enough to receive a donation of several thousand Trojan Brand Condoms through the National Coalition of STD Directors 2026 Condom Connect application! This annual program aims to provide over 1 million condoms to programs and partners nationwide to reduce stigma around prevention and normalize condom usage. Stop by VCHD or one of our many community condom drop locations for more info or to grab some condoms for you or someone you know!
