🧵✨ We're excited to welcome Eva from the WVU Marion County Extension Service Office to our senior centers this September for a fascinating presentation on Crazy Quilts!

Crazy quilts are one-of-a-kind treasures that represent a historically significant style of quilt making that became popular during the Industrial Revolution in the late 19th century. With the introduction of new fabrics, decorative threads, embellishments, and sophisticated embroidery techniques, this unique art form has remained a beloved tradition among quilters.

During this engaging program, you'll learn how crazy quilts came to be, their connection to our Appalachian heritage, and you'll even have the opportunity to see a 100-year-old crazy quilt that was completely hand-stitched and quilted!

🐾🐶 Happy Dog Appreciation Day! 🐶🐾

Today, we celebrate our four-legged friends and the unconditional love, companionship, and joy they bring into our lives! ❤️

For many older adults, a dog is much more than a pet—they are a companion, a source of comfort, and an important part of the family. We know that keeping a beloved pet healthy and well cared for can sometimes be a financial challenge, which is why Marion County Senior Citizens, Inc. is proud to offer our Pet Assistance Program. 🐕💙

Through our Pet Assistance Program, eligible Marion County seniors age 60 and older may receive assistance with pet-related needs, including:

🐾 Veterinary care assistance – up to $300
🐾 Pet food and supplies
🐾 Flea and tick prevention
🐾 Cat litter and other essential supplies
🐾 Leashes and other basic pet necessities
🐾 Grooming assistance

Our program is made possible through the Meals on Wheels Loves Pets Grant, helping us support seniors and their beloved companions.

Because sometimes the best way to support a senior is to support the one who is always by their side. 🐶❤️

If you or someone you know is a Marion County senior who could benefit from our Pet Assistance Program, contact MCSC, Inc. at 304-366-8779 to learn more and request an application.

Join us on Friday, August 28 at 7:00 PM as we welcome The Fridley Boys to the North Marion Senior Center! This high-energy duo is sure to have you dancing, tapping your toes, and having a great time! 🎸🎶

It has been such a wonderful summer filled with incredible music and amazing talent from right here in our region. We are so pleased that the North Marion Senior Center had the opportunity to host these talented performers and be part of such a great community series. ❤️

Today, we celebrate the incredible older adults who have shaped our families, strengthened our communities, and made a lasting difference in the world around us.

National Senior Citizens Day was established in 1988 by President Ronald Reagan to honor the achievements, wisdom, and contributions of older adults—and to recognize the importance of supporting their health, independence, dignity, and quality of life.

At Marion County Senior Citizens, Inc., we are fortunate to spend our days serving some truly remarkable seniors. We see firsthand the kindness, resilience, knowledge, humor, and generosity they bring to our community. ❤️

Today, we encourage everyone to celebrate a senior in your life. Give them a call, stop by for a visit, listen to their stories, or simply let them know how much they mean to you.
