June 7–13 is dedicated to celebrating the special bond between people and their beloved animal companions while encouraging responsible pet ownership.

At Marion County Senior Citizens, Inc., we know pets are more than just animals — they are family, companions, and a source of unconditional love. For many seniors, a furry friend brings comfort, joy, and a sense of purpose every single day.

We are grateful for our partnerships with Meals on Wheels America, PetSmart Charities, and our wonderful local veterinarians who help us keep pets and their owners happy, healthy, and thriving together. 🐶🐱

We hope you’ll join us for the MCSC, Inc. Annual Summer Picnic on Friday, June 26 from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the North Marion Senior Center in Mannington! Lunch is served from noon to 1:00 p.m.

Come out and enjoy an afternoon filled with good food, great friends, and summer fun. We love bringing our seniors together and can’t wait to spend the day with you! 💙

Following lunch, at approximately 12:30 p.m., Chef Denny Sestito will make a special appearance to prepare a dessert just for our seniors. This is a unique opportunity to watch a talented chef in action and enjoy a sweet treat made with care.

You won't want to miss this special event! Make plans now to join us for lunch and stay for dessert. We look forward to seeing you there!

The North Marion Senior Center is excited to host Mannington’s Farmers Market this season! 🌽🍅🥕

Come out and support local farmers, bakers, crafters, and vendors while enjoying fresh produce and homemade goods right here in our community.

🕔 Market hours are 5 pm to 7 pm or until vendors sell out.

☀️ As the weather gets warmer, it’s important to keep food safety in mind to protect yourself and your family from foodborne illness.

Here are a few simple food safety tips for the warmer months:

🥗 Keep cold foods cold — Don’t leave foods like potato salad, eggs, meat, or dairy sitting out for more than 2 hours (or 1 hour if temperatures are above 90°).

🧼 Wash your hands often — Especially before preparing food and after handling raw meat.

🌡️ Cook foods thoroughly — Use a food thermometer to make sure meats are cooked to safe temperatures.

🧊 Pack coolers with plenty of ice — Keep picnic and cookout foods properly chilled.

🍉 Wash fresh fruits and vegetables — Even items with peels should be rinsed before cutting.

🪰 Cover food outdoors — Keep insects and pests away from your meals at picnics and barbecues.

A little extra care can help everyone enjoy a safe and healthy summer season! 🌞
