Please join us in welcoming Nadia Salibi, our new Chief Impact Officer. Nadia comes to us with 25 years of experience in the health and nonprofit sectors. She is passionate about our two-generation, wraparound anti-poverty model serving single mothers and children.

She most recently served as the Chief Impact Officer and Chief of Staff at Children at Risk, overseeing most programmatic areas, including early childhood and K–12 education initiatives. She also co-directed their health programs, with a focus on integrating efforts around long-term, generational impact metrics.

Prior to Children at Risk, Nadia served as Chief Program Officer for City Square in Dallas, managing all programs and approximately 25 public grants from city, state, and federal agencies, including HUD, USDA, Texas Workforce Commission, and multiple city and county contracts.

A backpack can mean so much more than school supplies.

Thanks to our partnership with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, a milestone 5,000 food-filled backpacks have been distributed to Head Start families since 2023, ensuring children have meals over the weekend. The packs are filled with non-perishable breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack items.

AKA members also share the joy of reading by visiting classrooms and sharing books.

Meet the Pilots of the Pilot: a few of the strong women who joined our new Workforce Development Pilot program to pave a stronger path for their families!

This pilot program, offering forklift and logistics certifications in partnership with CLC, Inc. - Training & Employment Services, is creating a fast, practical pathway into high-demand careers. The program combines short-term certification opportunities with free on-site child care and transportation, removing the barriers that typically hold parents back.

"They help us with transportation by either giving us gas cards or ordering Lyfts to get us to and from sessions. For child care, we have the Kids Club, and they have been perfect with my children. If I could bring them here every day I would! But it's been very helpful, because my main things were transportation and child care. I was like, 'I really do want to do this, but I needed this to be able to do it.' I was very grateful when I saw that they helped with both of those."

Center for Transforming Lives has distributed more than $1 million in rent and utility assistance to eligible Tarrant County households since launching the Community Outreach Fund in November.

We want to reassure you that funding is still available. We can accept 200 applications at a time, and then we pause the application portal so we can process those 200 as quickly as possible. It is not unusual for us to receive 200 applications within the first hour after the portal reopens.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. We asked our Clinical Counselors one important question: what are your tips for protecting your mental health?
Therapist Alicia Scholl encourages us to give ourselves permission to grow slowly. Strong roots take time.
"Mental health and gardening have more in common than people realize. In gardening, you learn quickly that growth cannot be rushed. You water, nurture, protect, and trust the process. Healing works the same way.
Some seasons are for visible growth, and some are for strengthening roots where no one else can see. Just because someone looks “fine” on the outside does not mean important work isn’t happening underneath.
Pruning is also part of healthy growth. Sometimes letting go of unhealthy habits, relationships, or expectations is necessary to make room for something healthier.
Mental health is rarely about one big breakthrough—it is usually built through small, consistent acts of care: rest, boundaries, support, movement, sunlight, and connection."

In fact, 90% of our Pre-K graduates enter Kindergarten ready to succeed. One parent recently shared:
