When it comes to food assistance, we want to do it right! ✅

Our recent Neighbor Engagement Survey revealed that many neighbors have experienced situations where they felt uncomfortable, judged, unsafe or unwelcome while seeking food assistance.

Asking for help isn’t comfortable. Receiving help can be uncomfortable, too. Our job is to make sure that no one has to choose between getting help and feeling respected.

At FRFB, we strive to create a welcoming space so our neighbors can come through our doors with dignity. Everyone who asks for support deserves kindness and respect, regardless of their identity, background, or circumstance.

Creating welcoming spaces is an important way to ensure people are comfortable. 🤗❣️🌈

Myth: Only unemployed people can use SNAP (and other government assistance programs).

Fact: 86% of SNAP households with working-age adults who aren't disabled earned income in the past year.

When wages aren't enough to sustain the rising cost of living, access to food should not be a concern. That's why we help people sign up for SNAP.

Some of our staff had the chance to take a literal field trip today and visit a great community partner, Moss Neck Farm. It was a great chance to get the insider's perspective on our main fresh egg supplier's operations and to imagine the possibilities for expanding the partnership.

We truly appreciated the hospitality of the lead farmer and tour guide, Taylor Galloway.

Our dedication to providing nourishing food helps reduce food insecurity in the Fredericksburg region. But we don't do it alone. Our network of more than 200 community partners supports us in our mission to end hunger. We are stronger together!

🌈 LGBTQ+ individuals are more likely to experience food insecurity than their non-LGBTQ+ peers. It's not about who they are, but the barriers they encounter.

Many people in the LGBTQ+ community face challenges like housing instability, discrimination, poverty, and limited access to transportation. When these challenges intersect, accessing food becomes even harder.

At the Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank, we work with neighbors and organizations to make sure that food assistance is accessible and welcoming to everyone who needs it. ❤️🏳️‍🌈

The Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank is excited to be participating in the Art of Aging Expo at the Fredericksburg Expo Center today from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM!

Hosted by Partners In Aging , this free community event brings together organizations, agencies, and resources dedicated to helping older adults and caregivers thrive. Whether you're looking for support services, opportunities to stay active and engaged, or simply want to learn more about what's available in our community, there's something for everyone.

Be sure to stop by our table to learn about food assistance programs available throughout the region, including services for older adults, and meet members of our team.
