We hoped it would not happen, but, alas, it has. This morning there were e-dirt bikes and e-scooters out on the Robie Park Playground rubberized surface. This is a big NO-NO for that surface! Sharp pegs, pedals, handles, fenders all could damage the surface and cause all kinds of maintenance issues. We have signs ordered for the Playground that remind people that these items are not allowed on the playground.
We ask that parents of kids with these various wheeled items make sure their kids know that they are not allowed on the Robie Park Playground. We ask park patrons that if you see some of this behavior, please call Gorham Parks and Rec at 207.222.1630 if during regular working hours or Gorham Police Department at their non-emergency number 207.839.5581 to report. It is helpful if you can identify the color of the e-bike, bicycle, scooter and what the rider was wearing at the time - ex: blue shirt/jeans, helmet color, etc?

If your "ebike" does not have pedals, like these ones, it is NOT an ebike. It is an e-dirt bike and is NOT allowed on roads, sidewalks or public bike paths by Maine law.
Ebike laws in Maine are classified into 3 Classes based on their battery wattage and speed capabilities.
Under 16 years old, you can only ride a Class 1 ebike legally on Maine roads and sidewalks while following traditional bicycle rules and must wear a helmet.
