In this brief video, an incredible mom shares how she wants to build a future of happiness, peace, and possibilities for her children. She is a single mom to two sweet boys with another one on the way, and she is knocking down barriers one step at a time.

Housing isn't just about finding an open unit and handing over keys. It's about being ready when that unit opens up and staying stable once you're in.

At Freedom House Ministries, our Success Coaches don't see housing readiness as a test families have to pass. It's a team effort. One family might need help clearing an old eviction judgment. Another needs a ride to work or help finding childcare. Most are working toward a realistic budget that can support market-rate rent.

We help families build a "housing packet" with valid IDs, birth certificates, proof of income so when an opportunity comes up, they're ready to move fast.

And when a small financial problem threatens to derail progress (a car repair, documentation fee, or security deposit) our Barrier Removal Fund steps in so families don't lose momentum.

Because real success isn't just "did this family leave the shelter into housing." It's "what will help this family find a home, keep it, and build a stronger life?"

Every family's path looks different. The communities job is to walk it with them. 🏡

KOS Management exemplifies that every time they show up. Their team provides evening meals for families staying at Freedom House, and creates memorable experiences for kids through Christmas cookie decorating, rock painting, and tonight’s activity, painting birdhouses! 🐦

"Volunteering at Freedom House has taught us to see families not as problems to solve, but as people with stories, strengths, and resilience," the KOS Management team shared. "We are beyond blessed to play a small part in their lives while bringing joy and connection to families during their stay."

Michelle is proof that history does not define your future. She overcame a season of homelessness while balancing education, employment, and the demands of being a single mom. But her journey with Freedom House Ministries did not end at housing...

Michelle now faithfully serves on the Board of Directors, helping guide the organization's future. In this role, her heart for serving others shines brightly.

Michelle is one of many families served at Freedom House in our first 35 years, and she now plants seeds for the next generation of families. You are invited to join Michelle in this mission at Seeds for Change on September 10.
