Groton Utilities will begin installing a new water main on Brandegee Avenue on Tuesday, August 25. Work will extend from the Brandegee water tank south to Litton Avenue and will take approximately four weeks to complete.

Construction will be limited to the southbound lane on the western side of the street. Traffic control will be in place, and two-way traffic is expected to remain open throughout the project. Brandegee Avenue will not be completely closed at any time.

Drivers should allow extra travel time and use caution when passing through the work zone. Thank you for your patience while this important infrastructure work is completed.

National Water Main Cleaning Company has been conducting sewer cleaning and inspections throughout the summer for Groton Utilities. Beginning this Sunday night crews will be performing inspections starting at 9pm and ending at 5:30am, Sunday through Thursday. Inspections will be performed in the City of Groton with a city police officer acting as an es**rt. Please do not be alarmed if you see the National Water truck near your property during the night – they will do their best to be considerate while in your neighborhood.

Daniel Tompkins was presented the 2026 Groton Utilities Jacqueline B. Nixon Community Service Award during a ceremony at Groton City Day on Friday, August 7th in Washington Park. The award is given out annually to a member of the City of Groton community who exemplifies GU’s slogan of “Giving Back to the Community”.

As part of the award Groton Utilities presented a check for $2,500 to Safe Futures in the name of Dan at his request.

There is currently a power outage on Gales Ferry Rd in the Groton Utilities service territory due to a fallen tree. Crews are onsite working to restore power. Estimated time to restoration is 1-2 hours. Please check back for updates.
