🧙‍♂️✨ Planeswalkers, Assemble! ✨🧙‍♀️

We’ve received a huge donation of Magic: The Gathering cards from Wizards of the Coast, and we’re celebrating by cracking open some packs together! 🎉

Join us Thursday, September 3 from 5:30–6:30 PM for a special Magic: The Gathering event! We’ll unbox Jumpstart booster packs, then jump into some beginner-friendly matches where you can learn the basics of building a deck and playing the game. 🃏⚔️

This event is for tweens and teens.

Whether you’re completely new to Magic or just looking for a chance to play, all experience levels are welcome!
And yes… there will be special giveaways for participants! 🎁

Come see what’s hiding in those packs, learn the game, and maybe discover your new favorite card.

📚 New Library Hours Starting September 8! 📚

Just a heads-up, patrons! Our library hours will be changing beginning Tuesday, September 8. Please take a look at our new Fall, Winter & Spring hours and plan your next visit accordingly. We look forward to seeing you! 🍂📖

New Hours:

🍄 Grow Your Own Mushrooms! 🌱

Ready to add mushrooms to your garden? Join us on September 12 from 11 AM–12 PM to learn how to grow your own mushrooms in your own garden at home!
Each participant will go home with their own inoculated mushroom log, which can continue producing fresh mushrooms year after year for 3–5 years! 🍄🌿

Come learn something new, and start your own backyard mushroom harvest! Space may be limited, so be sure to register.

🃏✨ A HUGE Thank You Magikids & Wizards of the Coast! ✨🃏

We are incredibly grateful to Magikids and Wizards of the Coast for their incredibly generous donation of a huge collection of Magic: The Gathering cards to the Holmes Public Library! 🧙‍♂️⚔️

We can’t wait to put these cards into the hands of our patrons and start playing! 🎴 Keep an eye out for upcoming programs where we’ll be learning, building decks, battling, and having plenty of fun with this fantastic collection.

Whether you’re a longtime Planeswalker or have never played before, there’s a seat at the table for you! 💙

✨ Take a Peek at Our Latest Display! ✨

Our display case is currently featuring our patron Katherine’s amazing collection of antique Pyrex! 🍲🌈 From colorful vintage pieces to classic designs, this collection is sure to bring back some memories and maybe inspire a little collecting of your own!

Fun fact: This is Katherine’s third display at the Holmes Public, and not a single piece has ever been shown more than once! How’s that for an impressive collection?

Stop by and see her Pyrex treasures for yourself. The display will be here through Friday, September 4th. We hope you’ll come take a look! 👀💚📚

🎨✨ Thank you to everyone who joined us yesterday for our Teen Mixed Media Meetup! 🖌️💫 We had such a great time creating, experimenting, and hanging out together. We’re so excited about this new program! 💕📚

Bring your own or use the library's art supplies: it's completely up to you! No experience is necessary, just bring your imagination and enjoy a welcoming space to make art and connect with other creative teens.
