Magnificat Houses, Inc.

Magnificat Houses, Inc. A welcoming community where those needing housing, food and mental health programs can stabilize and grow in productivity and independence.

Magnificat offers refuge and hope to the destitute by creating homes where people of different mental abilities, social backgrounds, religions and cultures, live together in community. Community is our greatest strength, and through community we strive to reveal the special value that each person has to offer the other. We are dedicated to the conviction that recovery is possible in a family-style setting that offers hope, respect, opportunity, work, a good home, education and friendship.

A welcoming community can change a life.

Whether someone joins us for a meal, seeks support through our Intake Center, finds housing, or participates in recovery services at St. Joseph Clubhouse, they are met with respect, care, and a community that walks alongside them.

We are so grateful for the generosity of our community. Jerry (second from the left) recently dropped off much needed dress clothing, perfect for job interviews, and backpacks.

If you have items to donate or want to support our neighbors in need, every contribution makes a real difference.

A heartfelt thank you to the Catholic Daughters of America, St. Michael Catholic Church for their generous support of MHI Houston.

Recently, a representative stopped by to present a donation that will help us continue serving meals, supporting housing residents, and walking alongside our neighbors in need.

Partnerships like these remind us that compassion grows stronger when a community comes together.

Strong minds start with honest conversations. On May 28, MHI Houston hosted our Strong Minds, Strong Men Mental Health Awareness Event at 1410 Elgin St, and the room was full of exactly that.

A counselor from Memorial Assistance Ministries (MAM) Ministries, led a discussion that left a mark on everyone who attended.

In the words of Erika Vasquez, our Supportive Services Program Manager, "It was an amazing event last Thursday, featuring a counselor from MAM who led an engaging and impactful discussion focused on mental health and wellness."

Thank you to everyone who showed up and opened up. More of this at mhihouston.org/what-we-do/clubhouse/

On May 31, we had the privilege of celebrating Sr. Agnes and her 25 years of devoted service with the Missionary Sisters of Mary Immaculate. It was a beautiful day of gratitude, prayer, and fellowship as we recognized her commitment to a life of faith and service.

The Missionary Sisters of Mary Immaculate travel from India to Houston to minister to those in need, bringing hope, compassion, and a spirit of joyful service. The celebration was marked by a beautiful Mass and special blessings from their Bishop, a fitting tribute to this remarkable milestone.

MHI would like to give a very special thank you to our amazing housing team for all the hard work that went into making our first Housing Fair a success! Your dedication, coordination, and commitment did not go unnoticed; it was incredible to see everything come together so smoothly.

To everyone who contributed your time, food, and logistical support, thank you! Your efforts played a huge role in the success of this event.

We are proud to host 26 vendors and welcome 76 registered guests, including many individuals from outside of MHI. That kind of turnout reflects the power of collaboration and community.

There was a special spirit of generosity in the air as friends of Magnificat Houses, Inc. gathered to celebrate an outreach birthday festival led each year by Officer Sheldon Theragood.

Instead of focusing only on himself, he chooses to mark his birthday by serving others and bringing joy to our clients. We are deeply thankful to everyone who shows up with kindness and makes these moments possible.
