| What an incredible day for La Porte! ๐๐๐
Yesterdayโs 5th Annual Fill the Bus was more than a school supply drive; it was a powerful reminder of what makes our community so special.
To our residents, industry partners, City staff, volunteers, businesses, and community organizations: thank you. You showed up, you gave generously, you volunteered your time, and you helped make sure local students will begin the school year with the tools they need to succeed.
For five years, this event has continued to grow because of one simple thing: this community takes care of its own.
Our industry partners once again stepped up in a tremendous way, continuing a long tradition of investing in the community we all share. Our City departments and staff worked side-by-side with volunteers throughout the day, collecting, organizing, loading, unloading, and doing whatever was needed to keep things moving.
And to every person who stopped by with a backpack, a box of pencils, notebooks, school supplies, or simply a desire to help. You were part of something bigger. Every donation represents a student who will walk into the classroom a little more prepared and a little more confident.
A very special thank you to Kroger for once again opening its doors and parking lot to this event and continuing to be such a great partner to our community. Thank you, Kuraray America, Inc., for donating over 500 backpacks.
Events like Fill the Bus donโt happen because of one department, organization, or one group of people. They happen because an entire community decides to come together for its kids.
La Porte, you showed up in a BIG way, and we could not be more grateful.
Thank you for helping make year FIVE one to remember. ๐โค๏ธ๐
The work continues as we prepare for the Back-to-School Bash on August 8, where these supplies will be placed directly into the hands of local students.
This is what community looks like.
This is what partnership looks like.
This is La Porte.
