| This week, Mayor Helton, Councilman Guerra, and the Office of Emergency Management attended the 2026 Texas Emergency Management Conference in Fort Worth.
A special thank you to the Texas Division of Emergency Management for the tremendous work that goes into hosting this statewide conference each year. Bringing together more than 4,000 emergency management professionals, first responders, elected officials, public and private sector partners, and decision-makers is no small task, and the impact of this event is felt across communities throughout Texas.
La Porte was also proud to partner with the City of Deer Park to present on the coordinated response to the 2024 Major Pipeline Fire. This incident required extensive multi-agency coordination, evacuation planning, sheltering support, public communication, and sustained recovery efforts to help protect thousands of homes, dozens of businesses, and critical infrastructure.
Opportunities like this allow our team to share lessons learned, strengthen regional partnerships, and bring back valuable tools and strategies to better serve and protect the La Porte community.
Preparedness is not accidental. It is built through leadership, coordination, collaboration, and a continued commitment to the people we serve.
