Are you an educator, policymaker, or community organization focused on education?
On Monday, April 3, at the United Way of Greater Houston, a conversation will occur about the state of pre-K in Houston and why it is decisive for a child’s future. In particular, Kinder Institute for Urban Research will share how pre-K has evolved due to legislation passed in recent years to increase access to high-quality pre-K and the COVID-19 pandemic's impact on pre-K enrollment. This is part of a series of events sponsored by PNC about education research.
RSVP to grab your seat–limited space, and lunch will be provided.

We are featuring one of the local businesses in the Near Northwest District just in time for Valentine's Day! Sicola's Florist - Pinemont was established in 1979 by Judy Sicola, who was determined to begin her journey as an entrepreneur. With persistence, her floral shop was developed in a two-car garage on Pinemont, and she became the neighborhood florist in the area. As the years progressed, the family-owned business expanded to another location on Jones Road in 2008 Sicola's Florist - Jones

Judy's daughter, Shawna Thayler, oversees and has contributed to many Near Northwest District events with their beautiful floral arrangements! Shawna loves to design and get creative with floral displays. "I enjoy leading a good team, keeping everyone positive, and working with customers and staff!" Sicola guarantees customer satisfaction and makes sure to have something for everyone. They provide same-day gifts just in time for Valentine's Day tomorrow, so if you haven't already, call them or stop by to place your order today!

Update: as of 11:27 AM today (2/7) a boil water notice has not been issued, per Public Works. We will continue to work with them to share any information if anything changes.

For those without water/low water in the Inwood area, there is a huge water leak at Antoine and Tidwell. Repair work is happening now. I will provide more information as it becomes available. Please avoid the intersection as repair work continues.

New Farmers Market coming!!! Getting ready for the big day!! Come out and Meet The Market as we get closer to the Grand Opening!! Get your Fresh, organic fruits and vegetables frsh from the farmers who grow them!
I just wanted to comment on the Reina Desserts samples I took home from the NNMD event on Thursday night. Everyone there could take a clever little sack with rice pudding cups and flan custard to try at home. Well, my husband and I have now tried both desserts and found them delicious! I'll be looking to see where I can purchase these refrigerated delicacies.
Events at the conference center should not be allowed to park on both sides of Green Terrace Lane. We were down to one lane this morning which was at a dead stop making us late for a baptism. So not right. Residents should be given some consideration. Perhaps parking on one side of the street only.
Anyone know if MANNA is accepting donation and where?
Highly recommend Ace Transmissions at 8442 N. Houston Rosslyn Houston, TX 77088 (281) 965-3931 or (832) 488-7823 for your automotive needs. My father was an auto mechanic growing up so I was always taught to purchase your own quality parts and find someone you could pay for the labor. After being quoted about $350.00 bucks for a front rotor and brake pad job at Payne's Automotive (who won't allow you to purchase your own parts), I contacted Omar Zuniga at Ace Transmissions who not only allowed me to bring my own parts, but charged me roughly half of what Payne wanted in labor cost. Completed the entire brake/rotor job in one hour. They do more than transmission work and if you are looking for a great neighborhood mechanic this is the guy you want.
